Book Description

Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered) January 1, 2010

A majestic wolf prowls the halls of power, protecting his pack of shape-shifters from those who would harm them.

But a wolf is not meant to hunt alone...

Nick Carter hides his wildness under expensive suits, but nothing can lessen the impact of what he is: alpha wolf. He leads his region's Sentinels, a duty he takes seriously. He is cautious, ready for anything--except Jet. The first time he sees the black-haired, golden-eyed beauty he recognizes a shape-shifter like himself--but like no Sentinel he has seen before.

Jet has been trained by the Sentinels' dark counterparts for one mission: to take down Nick Carter. If she succeeds, her pack will be freed. If she fails... But the moment she meets the man with pale green eyes, she recognizes a kindred spirit, a male to match the wild nature of her soul. Together, they could be amazing....

But if they do not betray each other, the people they are supposed to protect will die.

More About the Author

Doranna responded to all early injunctions to "put down that book/notebook and go outside and play" by climbing trees to read & write.

Such quirkiness of spirit has created a wandering path through the publishing world, spanning genres and form to include thirty novels and counting--mystery, SF/F, action-romance, and franchise, including the Compton Crook-winning Dun Lady's Jess--and a slew of essays and short stories.

But after all that, mostly she still prefers to hang around outside with the animals. She doesn't believe so much in mastering the beast within, but in channeling its power. For good or bad has yet to be decided.

5.0 out of 5 stars super entry, January 8, 2010
This review is from: Sentinels: Wolf Hunt (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
Jet the shapeshifter lures werewolf Sentinel Nick Carter into her trap. He senses she is different than his peers, but not sure how. However, she frees him when she realizes her patron lied when he said he would not harm Nick. He realizes what makes her seem different is that she is more a wolf shifting into a human body than a human shifting into a wolf's body.

The Atrum Core wants to take control of the earth, but to succeed they must destroy their enemies the Sentinel. Jet is their latest weapon. If she fails them, they will destroy her pack. With Nick's help she hopes to rescue her pack, his soul, and hers if she has one, which he believes she does and that is all that matters.

Jet makes the latest Sentinel a fresh thought provoking tale with her background. The story line is action-packed from the moment the Atrum Core using the threat to her pack to send Jet to kill Nick and never slows down as she is caught between killing her soulmate or the mass murder of her pack. Fans of the saga will relish Doranna Durgin`s super entry.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a solid Series..., July 19, 2010

This review is from: Sentinels: Wolf Hunt (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I did enjoy the story between Nick and Jet. I always seem to pick up the last book in a series before I read the first, so I am used to reading things albeit backwards.

Nick Carter makes a strong male lead. His well build, in commanded of himself and isn't insecure of his emotions. He's a good team leader and takes his job seriously--protecting humanity from the Core. A very serious job, but, he has a back yard full of hounds. Who can't love a man who loves dogs?

In walks Jet. She peaks his interest and makes him lose some of his cool. She distracts him to the point he's nearly caught by the bad guys. Which is, actually OK because Jet went back to save him when she realized she'd been tricked into helping the wrong people. I found the twist on Jet's wolf vrs. Nick's to be unique and worked well within the story. It also gave Jet a rather interesting personality

There is a little side story that explains everything that's been happen at Regional for the while with security and communications troubles. It brings back the characters of the other novels in the series in a way that didn't over shadow the current story.

It was a rather enjoyable read and spurred me to go back and read the other two novels. I found I enjoyed the middle novel, Lion Heart, more than I did this one or the previous one, Jaguar Night, but it was still enjoyable.

All in all a good paranormal/urban fantasy romance. It's not really a werewolf novel if that's what your looking for. It's more shape-shifting than anything else, but I was just looking for the fantasy romance, so I was good with it.

But, the most important thing of all, was in the end, I really did believe Jet was/is Nick's heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, January 11, 2010
This review is from: Sentinels: Wolf Hunt (Silhouette Nocturne (Numbered)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I really liked this book in the ongoing series about shapesifters named Sentinels and their enemies. The two main characters, Nick and Jet, were very well written, as were all of the other characters. Good fast pace and interesting all the way through the story, Doranna Durgin has a nice feel for her characters.
