3.0 out of 5 stars Decent but cheaply made
I bought this item around 1 month ago and for the most part, it's a decent purchase. The main use is for my wife and myself to watch TV at night when the child is asleep (room is adjacent to ours). This lets us watch at a reasonable volume without disturbing the child. For this purpose, the set overall works well but does have a few issues.

1) Product has a pretty good fit over the ears but I do get fatigue after around 45 min. of use.
2) The buttons/battery chamber seem flimsily made. I can see losing that battery cover as it seems that it's barely fastened on.
3) Interference. I sit around 8 feet from the transmitter and get occassional buzzing. Usually moving the angle of the headphones on my head or the level of my head (from laying to sitting in bed) will fix it...but it can be a bit annoying.

All in all, the set does the job and I can't complain too much considering the price for dual headsets. The buzzing can be annoying but a quick adjustment usually quells it.

Sentry Full-Size Wireless Headphones 2 pk. - HO-802 These 2 pair are fantastic at a great price. Bought these for the frequency response 20 to 20, lowest and highest end of hearing media range recognition. Have older ones that needed replacing. Have tried other very expensive ones with higher transmitting frequencies and had too much static and poor results as in not receiving at all. That's what you get in a high volume area (Lots of people with gadgets with similar frequencies). These use lower frequencies like my old ones that never give me any problems. The big BASS is there with these unlike my old ones. I can move around all of my place with no signal loss, perfect reception. *** Did I mention that these are so comfortable, not too loose or too tight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best headset for the money by far!, December 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sentry HO802 Wireless Headphones - 2 Pack (Electronics)
I now have purchased 5 of these (1 for living room, 1 for porch, 1 for vacation house, 2 for my daughter). I've tried varous brands, and settled on these.

The sounds quality is excellent. Setup is just a matter of plugging the transmitter into a wall socket, and the jacks into the back of the TV. The headsets needs 2 AAA batteries. That takes 5 minutes and you're up and running.

You can use it with the TV set normally (if you don't hear as well as others), or with the TV muted (if others are doing something else and don't want to hear it).

Pluses:
- Very good sound quality
- Sound quality is better than TV or speakers -- and good for hearing speech or music
- No static
- Comfortable over-ears style
- Headsets can be used two rooms away
- 2 headsets (good if you have 2 people)
- Excellent price for 2 headsets
- Easy TV connection
- Can pick up other transmitters

Minuses:
- Would prefer rechargable (probably not possible for the price)
- Battery compartment a litle cheap - broke one, but it still works

You would think that buying this could be risky. But surprisingly, this set was way better than my last set. Loud clear reception. Easy to hook up. No regrets whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for watching TV, August 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sentry HO802 Wireless Headphones - 2 Pack (Electronics)
This review exceeds Amazon's recommended maximum length of 300 words, and for that I apologize. I've tried to answer the questions I had about these headphones before I bought them--If I've missed anything, I generally respond pretty quickly to comments.

PROS: Inexpensive, comfortable, quality sound, don't need line of sight to transmitter, operate on two standard AAA batteries
CONS: Battery compartment somewhat awkward to open and close

REASONS FOR BUYING: I bought these headphones because I live in Arizona and with all of the fans I have to keep running to keep my apartment cool in the summer, I had to turn the TV up way too loud to still be considered a good neighbor. I had a pair of very cheap wireless headphones in which the sound would constantly cut out, which made them impractical for watching TV. However, since I needed a solution and noticed that these were cheaper than most other single pairs of wireless headphones (and, of course, you get two), I decided I didn't have much to lose.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS AND SET-UP: These turned out not only to work, but they do the job perfectly. Setup was a breeze--just plug the RCA plugs into the audio out jacks of your TV and the other (single) plug into the transmitter, plug in the transmitter and push the power button, turn on the headphones, and off you go. Both pairs of headphones work with the same transmitter with no configuration, and I believe you can even add more pairs if you wish. The transmitter has a bit of an odd shape (kind of like the Flatiron building in New York City, but laid on its side).

COMFORT: The headphones sport padded earcups and my ears fit entirely inside them. The headband is adjustable by pulling down on either earcup and features a whopping twelve settings on each side! I find them quite comfortable to wear for an entire movie (although since the padding is a leatherette material, my ears do start to sweat a little by then).

RECEPTION/TRANSMISSION: The best part about these headphones (and what sets them apart even from more expensive sets) is that you don't need a line of sight to the receiver, which has a low enough profile to sit behind my TV and out of sight. With the antenna retracted, I get static on the phones depending on which direction I move my head in. However, once the antenna is fully extended (about 18 inches or so), I get crystal clear reception anywhere in my apartment. This is very nice indeed, as it allows me to grab a snack from the kitchen without missing any dialogue.

CONTROLS: All of the controls are placed on the outside of the right earcup. There is an on button, an off button, and a red power indicator. It would be more efficient if there was just one button that turned the headphones on and off, but this is certainly a minor complaint. There is also a knurled volume control on the bottom of the right earcup. For a while I thought the only way to control it was by first manually turning off my TV speakers--however, I was able to change the "Audio Out" in the settings menu from "Variable" to "Fixed" on my Sony Bravia TV and now I can mute the TV speakers and control the headphone volume independently using the dial. (If you have an HDTV, check it for a similar feature.) Now when I want to use them, I just mute the TV, turn on the headphones and I'm good to go.

SOUND QUALITY: I am no audiophile (especially when it comes to TV sound), but I think anyone would find these more than adequate for watching TV. I would describe the sound as warm and dialogue, sound effects, and music are always clear and crisp. I often have trouble hearing all of the dialogue while watching DVDs and Blu-rays, but these headphones completely eliminate that problem. Because the sound is quite good, I don't need to turn them up very loud, but they will go plenty loud indeed. In fact, if I actually get my wife's pair of headphones and forget to turn the volume down, they usually blow me out of the water as soon as the sound comes on!

BATTERIES: Each set of headphones requires two AAA batteries. I have used each pair for about 5-10 hours off of fresh alkalines and I just measured a AAA out of one of them at 1.4 volts, which means it's probably not even half used. (Be aware that the louder you keep the volume, the quicker the batteries will deplete.) I recommend getting eight low self-discharge rechargeables (such as Eneloops, or these cheaper clones: Tenergy Centura AAA Low Self-Discharge (LSD) NiMH Rechargeable Batteries, 1 Card 4xAAA) so that you can just swap them out as needed. The battery compartment is a bit odd...to open it, you must push down on a small switch at the top of the left earcup; then after replacing the cover, you push it back up. I'm not sure, but it feels a bit cheap and like a potential failure point--although it's probably nothing a little electrical tape couldn't fix.

In summary, I am very glad I decided to take a chance on these headphones. If you're just looking for a pair of wireless headphones to use with your TV, I believe you can't go wrong with these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Happy with Purchase, November 5, 2010

We have a dog who gets the shakes when listening to certain TV sporting events that have whistles; primarily basketball and football. So we got this product to listen to games without freaking poor Zoe out. It's been great! The sound quality is very good. Headphone comfort is decent, but I tend to take them off for commercials. The "on ear" controls are intuitive and we quickly learned how to manipulate them without taking the headphones off (basically on, off, volume). We have not experienced any interference, though we use wireless modem for web surfing while using this. So we'd have to say we are very happy with this product. Good value, solid performance. Note: I'm a musician, with good sensitive ears, but not what I'd call an audiophile when it comes to TV. I'm listening to football games on TV and NOT thinking "Geez, these headphones don't deliver 100-250 hz lows very well at all!" It's TV, people. If you feel compelled to EQ TV sound, these are probably not for you.

I have used these for over a month now and I have had no problems other than the occasional feedback/white noise. For the price I can't complain. I bought these so I could hear/watch TV in my extremely noisy home. These were the perfect solution. I can watch TV anytime of the day without having to pause and tell others to be quiet. Love it!

I bought these for the TV in our playroom. We were having constant battles with the kids turning it up too loud. Problem now solved! The sound range is great. The kids can take a bathroom break or even go out in the yard and still listen to their shows. We did have one side of the headphones break and we were able to glue and tape it back together. We use rechargeable batteries as the kids usually set them down and forget to turn them off. The door covers for the batteries are hard to keep on and the foam padding around one set came off and we were able to put it back on. Overall, inexpensive solution.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very capable first set of headphones, May 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sentry HO802 Wireless Headphones - 2 Pack (Electronics)
These headphones are great. They however are not perfect. They do though, have a lot going for them. They look nice, the sound quality is decent, and they are very inexpensive. Upon handling them, they felt solid, but you could tell they are made with saving money in mind. They have a very "lightweight plastic feel." As long as you are careful with the battery compartment latch and don't drop them, they should last a while. I've done some audio producing and recording in the past, so I can say, if you're someone who will use these for recording or music production, or like clean crisp sound they might not quite do the job. All in all, if your looking for something that will solve your sound problem and don't have to have the top of the line, these I would recommend!

PROS:
Very inexpensive
Look nice
Hook up as many headphones as you want, I've hooked up 4 at once and it would do more I'm sure
Comes with two sets of headphones
Comes with adapter
Easy to set up
Antennae will rotate to almost any angle you want

CONS:
Sound quality is only alright
They are mono, NOT stereo!
Signal is good, but is quick to accept interference

UPDATE: I've ordered several sets and one finally showed up with a headphone that didn't work. After FINALLY getting a hold of customer service via phone, they shipped out another one no questions asked.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just what you need..., July 12, 2010

These are great when someone gets a phone call while you're watching TV: Just hit the mute, turn them on and listen without the distraction. They are also wonderful to use when someone is sleeping. Sound quality and reception are both excellent, and at this price it is hard to NOT buy them. And you can plug them into anything with a similar jack (radio, mp3 player, CD player, cassette...).
