This product started okay, but just got worse and worse over time.

Turns out it's full of plastic gears rubbing against metal and the plastic wears down, and some actuators won't click and open the safe anymore. So after a year or two it barely ever opens.

Search for "Sentry Safe won't open site:[...]" on Google. Read all the horror stories from people agreeing in the comments.

Now I finally got mine open again, but it won't close.

Worst safe ever.

This safe arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It was also easier to move than I anticipated -- after cutting the top of the box off, I just left it on the bottom of the box to slide the safe to its destination. the combination has a nice solid feel and was easy to use. We don't have any other safes to compare this one to, but we're pleased with this purchase.

This small, fire-proof safe was just what I needed for my documents and other valuables. It's small enough to fit in the back of my closet (although heavy, of course). Getting the combination right might take a a couple of tries, but otherwise the safe does what it's supposed to do. Good product so far.

The safe is a perfect answer to home valuable storage needs. It isn't so big that it's obvious (when discretely placed) and is large enough to accommodate anything I truly wish to store. Delivery made getting the unit home a cinch.

Having the ability to be bolted to the floor makes this safe superior to may others which cannot. It would take a brazen act involving a great deal of time to get this sucker up and out of the house! (And if they had that much time, there's not much that will ever stop them.)

The safe had clearly been packaged with damage(box and padding were not marred--so damage likely occurred at factory before it was boxed). I am unsure of the inegrity of the safe's 'fire proofing' given loose door and deep dents to corners. No response to my inquiries about the effects of this damage on fire resistance. It is a heavy item that will be expensive and time consuming to have replaced--and the replacement might well arrive in the same condition. Buy locally, rather than via internet, to avoid these problems.

I begain my first attempt to get this safe on 5/28 within a couple of weeks I recieved the product which was moderately damaged. I returned it and 2 weeks later the exact same damaged safe was deivered. the 3rd safe I recieved was also moderately damaged. Edges smashed in, and while the door would open and lock, it definately lost its water/fire proof capabilities. I am still attempting to get the return fed ex paperwork from Eli the manager at home and beyond. He offered me 30.00 off and I told him I wouldn't take anything less than 50%. Now I just want my money returned so that I can go to a store and purchase a safe. This item weighs 89 pounds and I am sure it takes a beating down the conveyor belt. I would suggest that if you cant get a purchased item to a customer in good shape than you should remove that item for your catalogue. I love Amazon and this is the first time I have had trouble with a merchant like this.

As long as this safe performs as advertised, it is adequate in size and functionability for what it's advertised for. Negatives - plastic 'cheap feeling' interior door construction & dial feels relatively lightweight. Positives - bolts to floor if needed, fits file folders efficiently, & small enough to store almost anywhere.

Discovered I could get one of equal size and specifications with a digital lock, instead of the turnstile one, for equal price at a store down the street for me. The locking mechanism and door seal seems a little "iffy" to me as far as its ability to withstand fire and water. It is heavy enough though, that anyone who tries to take it should really have their work cut out for them, especially if you bolt it to the floor with the provided equipment.

I had to rip the safe open with a demolition saw to get my valuables out. DO NOT buy this safe or any safe that Sentry makes.

I replaced a fireproof box with this, which secures valuables and digital material from fire or theft. Securing it to the floor was easy and effective. The combination lock is easy and quick enough and works every time unlike some of the electronic locks. One negative, you can't change the combination which they didn't mention in the descriptions anywhere. Unless you have something really tall to put in it, I recommend getting a shelf for $19.
