I asked for and received this safe as a gift. I had no problems with the hinges, the items I am storing all fit without issue, and the safe seems to be doing exactly what it is supposed to be doing.

A couple of things to note:
- There is no way to bolt this down to the floor. If someone wants to pick it up and walk out there is nothing to stop them from doing so. But this is not sold as a security safe - this is a fire and water resistant safe.
- The manual states that the material that they use for the fireproofing in the walls of the safe contain a high amount of moisture naturally. So, if you are storing items that are moisture-sensitive (like old photos) then you should seal them in zip-lock bags before putting them into the safe. One of the things that I am storing is an external hard drive, so I placed many packets of silica gel (moisture absorber) in the safe to draw any moisture out of the air. You can buy silica gel at any craft store in the dried flowers section.

Do not buy this product. I was replacing a Brinks safe with this one and the minute I opened the Sentry safe to start putting my things inside the damn top fell off! No kidding! What a safe! The entire lid fell off! It is really poorly made because then all this stuff (I assume the fire proof material) started leaking out in powder form. Now I am trying to get a hold of Sentry and the customer service number is permanently busy during business hours. What a pain and disappointment. Even if you lid does not fall off, it is so poorly made someone could just pull it off. Terrible!

I purchased this safe and the shipping was extremely fast (ordered on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday with Super Saver shipping) so no complaints there. However, opening the safe proved to be almost impossible, contrary to some other reviews I read. I finally got it open by turning it upside down and using my shoe to open the latch. Perhaps a defect with my unit, but I have returned it & plan to choose a different safe rather than risk it a second time.

The safe I bought was broke in two days. The lid came out loose and a white powder started to flow out of it. So I returned it back to the seller.

I think there's a manufacturing/assembly issue with this safe. The hinges are badly made. They do not hold the lid and it is very easy to open the safe simply by pulling on it (even when locked). If you open the safe, the lid will fall off its hinges. I'll see if they send me a better one. I'm really disappointed since it is such an obvious mistake. On a better note, SentrySafe seems to have good customer service.

not the highest quality of work put into this safe but will do for small items you wont really be worried about losing..... me personally I wouldnt trust my life items in this safe to withstand the flood or fire.Ok for the price I guess.

Despite the advertised dimensions and the product image showing a letter sized file folder inside the safe, I had difficulty fitting one in because the interior of the safe just isn't wide enough. You can still put a letter sized folder in diagonally, but that makes the already limited space less usable. Other than this the safe is ok quality, it's a firesafe so don't expect too much from the lock, a simple key lock.

This thing broke within 10 minutes. The lid was open, and when i barely touched the side of the safe, the lid fell backwards and onto the floor. It seemed to be secured to the body the same way most toilet dispenser rolls are placed into the wall; some kind of spring loaded action. Though both the lid and the frame of the same were made from plastic, and it appeared to have an air bubble which messed up the fit of the lid into the frame. Needless to say, I returned it. Amazon gave me no problems, and I easily received a full refund on my credit card. I think this product was just faulty, and I still plan to buy a safe from Amazon, though I will go with a different brand.

I cannot open his safe. Yes, I have the keys! I have turned the keys every which way, kept the keys in the lock, removed them from the lock, nothing I do works. The latch that is supposed to release the lock will not budge. I have important documents in there that I need and cannot access. I saw a reviewer with the exact same issue on another site. DO NOT BUY THIS SAFE!

The first thing I had to do was put this thing on the floor and instead of pushing on the top with one's hand like the directions advise, I instead got over the top of it and pushed with my knee on the top, while simultaneously unlocking the latch. THAT was what opened it for me.
Once you get it open, READ the enclosed pamphlet that tells you to put pressure on the top of it every time you open it. Remember that tidbit of info.
It takes quite a bit of pressure to get this safe to unlock, due to the rubber gasket around the edge of the lid that makes it waterproof.
After that, you should be good to go.
I'm trying to decide where to put mine. I have a big can of flowers sitting in the corner of my den, I think if I turn this thing around facing the wall, it'll make a nice little pedestal for the flowers.
