Received this safe last week from Amazon. First the corner was bent in and a piece of plastic inside was broken. The safe is made of very thin metal, and the included attachments are useless. The holes in the back of the safe are too large for the attachment screws and washers included with the safe. The hole spacing doesn't conform with 16" centers for stable wall attachment. I did not return it since it would cost more to box it up and explain all this to someone. It is usable and the digital lock is OK and it's use is straight forward. I think I would look somewhere else (another brand) if I were to reorder a safe.

This safe is intented to prevent OPPORTUNISTIC theft. In other words, it secures things that are laying around that could easily be picked up. However, it would be quite easy for someone to carry the whole safe away even if it was bolted down. However, the thieves would need the right tools and time to work on it!

This is a type of safe that gives some measure of protection from fire. You may have to go to Sentry's website to find out just how much. Given it's dimensions it would be about the perfect size for a fairly large gun kept by the bedside, a larger flashlight, etc.

This product can also fit some laptops inside. However, safes often build up moisture and there are specific types available for storing computer media. With that said, you can always pick up a dessicant material that will dry the air inside. For short-term storage, maybe a few hours up to a few days, it's probably fine. If you are thinking in terms of long-term storage of a laptop, I would get in touch with the manufacturer for specific information. Ditto for computer storage media.

The Sentry Safe is simple and easy to work and easy to set your own combo. I secured
it to the floor and wall, but it could still easily be removed by a motivated bad guy.
It is better than leaving cash or valuables on your desk.
The original safe was a used item that was damaged. Amazon quickly agreed to pay for shipping and sent us a new safe that has worked great.

I chose this safe specifically because the photo shows the inside dimensions of the door to be over 16 inches.

I received it today, in perfect condition....

Except the door opening is only 14 7/8 inches!

So my 15 1/4 wide laptop can't fit inside.

I did a lot of research before buying a personal home safe. I wasn't crazy about battery-operated safes, but that seems unavoidable if you want quick, keypad access. The Sentry takes 4 AA batteries, which are common, inexpensive, and I always have a supply around the house.

This safe seems well made, especially for the price, and after reading the instructions, I quickly set it up with my own code. The keys work fine, and the battery compartment is easily accessible on the inside of the safe door.

I would have given it 5 stars except for two things: 1) I would prefer it if the beep tones emitted when the keypad is used would be defeatable. They are not. 2) I would have prefered all-metal construction. The plactic keypad and knob section of the door function properly but do not inspire confidence. But I suppose this would have made the safe somewhat more costly.

Overall a high-value, well-made product that I would recommend if one needs a small, inexpensive safe in one's home.

This product is ok for it's purpose of keeping people in your house out of your stuff but do not think any criminal will not just take it away.

There is a major defect with it however. It runs on batteries. The is not warning when they are close to being dead and if they die you have a major problem. You have to send away for kets to open the safe. They charge you a lot of money for this as well.

If there was a warning I would give this product 4 stars BUT because the unit died 1 year and 1 month (just after the warrantry expires) and now I have to spent time and money to get the keys totally almost as much as the safe itself I just would not recommend this product.

I will be happy to get my stuff out of it and throw it away!

The safe is everything I thought it would be. I have no trouble using it, has all the space I need inside.

Received my safe today. I thought i was buying a new item, but it was obviously used. the paint was chipped around the door and it came with no instructions. i didn't expect this from amazon.

Good purchase for the money, and works well for it's intended purpose. It is a deterrent to theft with ease of accessability, and is by no means intended for maximum security of valuables.
I do think the access holes in the rear could either be smaller or limited to just one, and I also would have liked a little thicker flooring material for the interior of the safe.

Basically, I recieved exactly what was advertised, and I am happy with the product.

I just recently bought my Sentry X075 security safe and installed it. I tested it before installing to make sure the override key was working. After installing I put some things in the safe including my cash and heart meds and closed it. When I went to open it it would not open. I kept trying the key and the key broke. So I got the second key and kept trying and still cant open it. I dont understand why it wont open since it worked fine earlier. Im so upset. I tried to call them but because of the time difference (I live in Alaska) they are closed. Now I have to pay a locksmith to come out so I can get into the safe for my meds. I cant afford that but theres no choice because I cant miss taking the medication. I dont care if they have to break it open because I will never trust this safe again. My next safe sure wont be a Sentry.
