From Library Journal
Maddox, a Baptist minister and director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, is alarmed at "a frightening erosion of support for religious freedom and . . . separation of church and state." Although he professes to see dangers from both ends of the political spectrum, Maddox is mainly addressing Christian fundamentalists, maintaining that the Founding Fathers respected religion but intended it to have no ties to government. Maddox also surveys school prayer, creationism/evolution, and aid to parochial schools. Neither profound nor entirely consistent, he states his arguments clearly for general readers. Recommended.
