4.0 out of 5 stars First Grader's Review
I liked Sepron the Sea Serpant because I really like monsters, especially this one. The series is about six monsters that are under an evil spell. There is a boy and a girl with a horse and a wolf on a quest to save the world from evil.

3.0 out of 5 stars Magical, adventurous introduction for the young ones!
One of my students absolutely demanded that I read this book for read-aloud. Since many first grade boys are obsessed with fantasy, I went with it. While this is hardly high-class wonderful fantasy, I could not help but see the appeal of the story. I'm tempted to call this "beginner's fantasy", an easy-to-read (but still surprisingly well-written) story under 80 pages...

One of my students absolutely demanded that I read this book for read-aloud. Since many first grade boys are obsessed with fantasy, I went with it. While this is hardly high-class wonderful fantasy, I could not help but see the appeal of the story. I'm tempted to call this "beginner's fantasy", an easy-to-read (but still surprisingly well-written) story under 80 pages that introduces the concepts of quests and magical creatures and all those good staples. While the characters never quite grabbed me, Blade uses great descriptions and words beyond the ordinary (thus, perfect for a read-aloud). The story is organized well and has a nice idea. Again, not absolutely wonderful (I'm sorry, but I could not help but compare to Deltora) but even I was intrigued. I think this is a perfect series for young readers interested in fantasy.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Sepron The Sea Serpent (Beast Quest, Book 2) (Paperback)
This book is a great book for kids who like monsters, because it's about a monster who tries to take over the sea and land with a whole lot of floods.

I really like this book and I think you would too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book series for boys, May 1, 2009

My son does not like reading very much but these really keep him interested. The only problem is they keep making more so I have to buy all of them The good thing is they are long enough to get your money's worth and if the whole series was one book like the Harry Potter series it would be intemidating to slower readers. They would be perfect for a boy age 8-11.

My two boys just love this series of Beastquest books. One is an avid reader, and the younger (2nd grade)not so much. I am always searching for books that can capture and hold his attention, and this series definitely does.
