Perfect Record,

It's not a Jack Johnson disc but he does have a heavy influence. It's great music overall, by several different artists, each of them having a very varied style and when it is all put together makes for a great compilation of new music. There isnt a bad track on the disc, whcih is why it gets my designation of perfect record.

..I love a CD I get that I have no idea what to expect. Who is the Septemeber sessions band? Who is greyboy?? Then you click it on because you like Jack Johnson and just sit back and go, WOW!. This is not a Jack Johnson record. He has 2 beautiful songs, one a Jimmy Buffet cover, the other an original. Both are great, but the rest of the CD is quiet different, but no less rewarding. A mix of funky, groovy jazz, one rap song from Ozamatli which is fun as heck and the amazing find in Meaningless Conversation. Quite a good CD, if your into the Jam music scene, or just like the groove mixed with some nice Man and his guitar songs by Jack J. Enjoy this CD, its worth it. The only downer is it has only 10 songs. I hope for a September Sessions 2!!

Jack Johnson is indeed one of the best new stars in music today. Whether or not he gets the mainstream respect that he deserves doesn't matter to him, because he will not compromise his style for appeal. The September Sessions is a perfect example of this. The September Sessions Soundtrack is not a Jack Johnson record. There's an excellent cover of Buffet's Pirate Looks at 40, and then a different version of F-Stop Blues from Brushfire Fairytales. However, only hardcore Jack J. fans will notice the difference between the original and the one on SS. The fact that Johnson is not all over this album is not something that retracts from the album's score. In fact, the acts that Jack decides to put on here add up to an incredibly cohesive album for just about any mood. Put this on when you're alone and in a bad mood, you'll be able to vibe along with the melodies. Put this on when you're out surfing or playing basketball with your friends, it's perfect music for the atmosphere. Johnson is quickly building an incredible catalogue in all areas. Whether it's with his surfing films, their accompanying soundtracks, Brushfire Fairytales, or the upcoming On and On (which is every bit as good as BF), he is becoming the number one name in jam rock.

Who's got the time to think??,

It took me 4 months to convince myself to try the Sept.Sessions....I bought it last week. If I had to sum up the entire album in a word I'd say "variety". Geez, one word isn't enough...."super cool variety"? My favorite track is Ganges a Go-Go, it's lots of fun. Jack contributed two songs to this album, and they're great too (I like the different version of F-Stop Blues). This is the kind of cd you should put in your player when you're bored, or want to get people to ask you "what are you listening to??". It automatically elevates your mood. I'd really like to see the film now....

Sessions that Impress,
By Jonathan Aubrey Mince (Orlando, FL USA) - See all my reviews

The September Sessions pull the listener into the realm in which the artists are performing. The music grabs one's soul and delievers them into the world of the Sessions that Impress. Jack Johnson does a wonderful job incorporating "true pure musical talents" into this brave and exotic catalog of chill and soul jamming experiences. The songs shift from acoustic jams from Jack Johnson himself to Reggae sessions to an hypnotic track from G-Love and Special Sauce. This album is simply more than just that, this experience inhales the listener with both lungs, and expresses how it feels to be alive. This is a must own album, experience, and tribute to the human spirit.

I totally agree with Annie Z's review. This is another fun CD of Jacks- OK, mostly Jacks. I like his Jimmy Buffet remake, and G.Loves Willow Tree, all of the September Sessions input. Jack again reminds us to have fun, relax, have some quality in our thinking, and take it easy.

Disappointing after all the hype,

I read the reviews on here, and bought the CD based on them. It just goes to show that my opinion must be different than most of the others on here. I love Jack Johnson's CDs, however this compilation didn't do it for me. The Greyboy song is great, as are most of his songs, but the other stuff seems like filler to me. Certainly not worth the $15 I spent, with only 10 songs!

Yo, You guys have got to understand that there are more people behind this film than just Jack Johnson. He's a talented guy but hes not the only one. Some of the new bands on this cd are awesome and they sound great with the movie. Remember that this isnt a studio album, its a soundtrack. Everyone seems to be looking for another jack johnson album here....and thats just not what it is.

If you are a fan of outdoor concerts in the summertime, lying on the grass, eyes closed, music flowing over you, stars shining in the sky...you will love this album. Jack Johnson and G love fans will not be let down.

Not what I expected, but would have purchased it anyways just because Jack Johnson's name is on it. I enjoyed the two songs that actually had lyrics by Jack. The rest.. eh.. not so much.
