I've been using this as a foliar spray on heirloom tomato plants this season. Previous years always had my heirloom tomatoes falling prey to a fungus, but this year the plants look better than they ever have.

4.0 out of 5 stars This stuff works!, August 13, 2011

Here in Minnesota we've had a lot of rain on top of an extremely snowy winter that left the ground saturated. I prepared my raised garden bed in the usual way and planted my heirloom tomatoes -- two Cherokee Purple, one Green Zebra and one Black Krim. Within a couple of weeks, they all came down with Septoria Leaf Spot, which I treated with a baking soda solution. It looked like it worked. We had two very heavy rainstorms (water leaking into basements, foggy windows, etc.) after which a very aggressive Early Blight took hold of the tomato leafs and the Septoria Leaf Spot came back. The bugs were also going bananas. I did not think the Black Krim was going to make it and the others looked pretty bad too. I had never had any fungus problem before. I sprayed morning and evening for three days, alternating Serenade with Concern's Copper Soap. At the same time I used Serenade, I sprayed with a Spinosad bug spray (Captain Jack's) to slow down the bugs. Serenade and Copper Soap arrested the fungal diseases and my tomatoes are now setting fruit and have lots of healthy leaves at the top of the plants. Serenade works and quickly! Just make sure you spray top and bottom of leaves and never spray after 8:00am or before 6:30pm to prevent leaf burn.

4.0 out of 5 stars First year of Serenade, June 23, 2011
This review is from: Serenade Concentrate Garden Disease Control - 32 Ounce
This is my first year of using Serenade. I read about it in a pamphlet from the nursery where I bought some fruit trees. I used it on the four pear trees I purchased this year and have started using it on my tomatoes in the garden as well. The older pear tree that we have here has shown immediate improvement since being sprayed with Serenade, despite the fact that I really didn't see any specific disease problems with it before. (The nursery recommends the use of Serenade as a prevention for fire blight, which is a devastating bacterial disease of pears, although Serenade itself is not labeled for this use, at least not that I could see.) Anyway, the old pear tree looks much healthier and more vigorous, though it appears to have dropped all of its fruit, something it has done many times in the past. The new pear trees show no signs of any diseases, and it's been an awful, monsoon spring here (2011) in the Catskills. I guess you could say, "so far, so good" with the fruit trees.

I sprayed my tomato plants for the first time last week, and have seen no problems from the spray. It's too early to determine if the diseases that I'm most concerned about, early blight especially, are going to be a problem. If we don't get some sunny weather, I doubt it will matter much, since we are several weeks behind in the garden already.

Since this spray is a beneficial bacteria, it seems strange to me that it would represent any danger of burning, but I don't have that much experience with it yet. It will probably be fall at least before I can say with conviction that is has done good for the pear trees, although there is little doubt that our old pear looks a lot healthier after one spraying.
