Far beyond college-chick-metal...,
By
This review is from: Serenade the Samurai (Audio CD)
If you're into bands like Trivium and As I Lay Dying then this band is NOT for you! Move along please...Now that the college metal kids are gone, and the Meshuggah and Tool fans remain, lets get down to it. This CD is amazing, especially if were already a Mooose Fan. I got into this band back in 04' when my buddies band played with them in Chicago, and they've come far since then. The most common critique I hear about Vampire Mooose is that the vocals are too harsh, but they're actually toned down from the self-titled CD, to my displeasure. The other thing I hear is that the music is too hard to follow. Well guess what, kids, that's why some people should stick with screamo and corporate metal....it's much easier for you to understand. If you like anything along the lines of Mastodon, Meshuggah, Behemoth, Tool, or some of the other prog-death bands, you should definitely pick up this CD. If you dig it, like I do, then pick up the first CD which is even heavier...lord knows how. This band is as heavy or heavier than any band putting out music today, with even heavier vocals, and the poly-rhythms that they use and the crazy time changes....well they're second to none. It's hard to compare Vampire Mooose to anybody, they're too heavy for Mastodon to hang with but that's the closest band I can think of. If you get music, and you're sick of the garbage on satelite radio....check out this band. They're insane.

Many Ninja's Equal One Samurai,

This review is from: Serenade the Samurai (Audio CD)
Vampire Mooose was an amazing, brutal and original album that garnered quite a bit of buzz on Metal Radio shows across the globe. Serenade The Samurai doesn't get quite as much attention but still shines as a continuation of the originality. The music is just as brutal as ever and possibly even more so at certain points.
Like on the debut vocalist Ryan Pulliam uses his trademark audible synthed out yell/growl rapping style. Rapping and metal in my opinion normally don't mix but this band so far is the exception and as usual the lyrics are intelligent and humorous. The guitars and bass are even more complex then on their debut album and the band breaks away with several breakdowns throughout the album. All in all a great CD that any fan of the Metal scene can enjoy. If you enjoy fast paced brutal music or original music then this album is for you. Pick it up today and get their debut as well as Silhouette Of Echoes which should be out near the end of this month (april). Keep the rawkus going!

Don't be fooled by their rather docile band name,

Don't be fooled by their rather docile band name, Vampire Moose will sneak up on you with their full-force metal and destroy your senses before you have a chance to put up a fight. You might as well just submit to their power.
