this album and ep are total doom classics, a must have for any fan of true doom/death, VERY slow, depressing, and heavy as all hell, this reminds me alot of the first couple Cathedral releases. nothing goth about this album just total doom!

The CRESTFALLEN EP is better than SERENADE'S just so you know!!..but SERENADE's is still great and very epic..lacking a good production though!!
CRESTFALLEN...came first! and this is one of the most DEPRESSING DOOM DEATH ep's ever!!! every song is amazing and has an atmosphere of pure DOOM!!!!! this will bring your sorry ass to your KNEES!! really unique..unlike any other!! ONE OF THE BEST..EVER!! Now..SERENADE's this is not really a ''mixed bag'' but some of it wander's off on you!! all though YOU know plentey of the songs on here are AMAZING!! ''LOVERLORN RHAPSODY'' is an amazing EPIC song!! and is the starter for this album!!..then comes ''SWEET TEARS'' which rules as well!! ''SLEEPLESS'' is a killer song too..some may say this is ''mainstream'' but I dont think so!!! GREAT GUITAR SOLO IN THIS!!! ''UNDER A VEIL(OF BLACK LACE)"..is amazing as well!! this album really has an ATMOSPHERE unlike any other!! And ''ALL FAITH IS LOST''(can be found on their demo's!) is a bonus track..and this is the most DEATH METAL(what ANATHEMA were when they first started!) song you will get here..but dont worry it slows down at the end to CRUSH YOUR SOUL!! not really all that speedy either! GREAT ..GREAT SONG!! Darren White was one hell of a front man!! HAILS TO HIM!! I HAVE LISTENED TO THIS COMBO A MILLION TIMES AND ALWAYS WILL..ONE OF THE BEST EVER IN DOOM DEATH!!!!!
