4.0 out of 5 stars Serengeti Aviators
As a professional pilot, these are the finest lenses available. I wish the company supported their product as well as Ray Ban. Hinge screws have a short life.

1.0 out of 5 stars good while they last
In two years I've dropped these things twice (from my hand to the floor) and both times a lens has broken. Replacement lenses are very difficult to find - found one place that stocks them when they can get some - and cost about what you'd expect - for two, of course. Never had this kind of problem with Nikons or Armanis, and for that matter don't recall it happening...

5.0 out of 5 stars Serengeti rocks, July 5, 2007
By
This is my 3rd pair of Serengeti sunglasses. I bought the first pair on a trip to Las Vegas, and enjoyed them for 10 years before I lost them. They were aviators, just like these. I hated losing them, even more when I discovered Sunglass Hut no longer carried this style. Amazon to the rescue!! They had the pair I wanted.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serengeti Drivers, November 22, 2008

This review is from: Serengeti Large Aviator Drivers Gradient Sunglasses (Aviator) (Eyewear)
I purchased a pair of Serengeti Drivers sunglasses over 20 years ago when they were owned by Corning. When I first used them I couldn't believe how relaxed my eyes felt in the bright sunlight. I sat on them once and broke the frame so I sent them in to Corning and they replaced the frame and sent them back. Yesterday one of the handles broke so I thought I would send them in again to get them fixed but apparently Corning sold their Serengeti line so I'm not sure how to proceed with getting them repaired. Mine have the aviator style lenses with a plastic frame and apparently that style is no longer available. These Serengeti Drivers are with out a doubt are the best sunglasses I have ever owned and if I can't get them fixed I will buy another pair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Sunglasses...period!, December 10, 2007

I bought my first Serengeti Large Aviator (Boomslang Species) sunglasses when I was 18 years old for $75. I am now 46 and still own that original pair and purchased another pair about 15 years ago that I also still own, but broke one of the lenses when they fell out of my pocket at Disneyland last week. Fortunately, the same model that I bought all those years ago(#5222) is still available or I would be in a panic. These are the best sunglasses fit and performance wise I have ever owned and will ever own.

This is my fourth pair. Would not consider any other brand. I have been in rainstorms that caused everyone else to pull off on the side of the road and I could see just fine. Increases color contrast dramatically. You can't go wrong with Serengeti sunglasses.

4.0 out of 5 stars great for flying, April 3, 2009

These glasses are great for flying as they don't distort color. I still need to get somebody to adjust the nose pads though. They're a bit too narrow for me out of the box. They're a great value at this price too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wearing Serengeti's Since 1986, September 2, 2011
This review is from: Serengeti Large Aviator Drivers Gradient Sunglasses (Aviator) (Eyewear)
I've been wearing Serengeti's Large Aviator (5222) sunglasses since 1986. Throughout the years, i have lost, dropped and stepped on, sat down on, etc. countless numbers of sunglasses and i have always gone back and purchased a replacement. Serengeti's filter out all the haze, UV and other stuff better than any other sunglasses, whether it be a sunny or foggy day. The photochromic action adjusts accordingly.

Nowadays, i have 2 pairs of Serengeti Large Aviators: 1 that i use and the other as a spare.

I will continue on with Serengeti as long as they continue to make the Large Aviator model.

The Serengeti large Aviator drivers are excellent. I drive a lot with my job and the clarity of the glasses is important as well as glare protection. I had worn Serengeti years ago and had forgotten how good they were. I would recommend them to anyone looking for glare protection as well a clarity in drivers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, excellent service, January 2, 2011

I ordered these sunglasses as a Christmas present for my son-in-law, a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. The black rims are acceptable to wear with his uniform and there were several good reviews from pilots. They arrived with one of the legs bent. I immediately sent Amazon an email saying that I needed an exchange. With Christmas around the corner, I was worried that the second pair would not arrive in time. Amazon sent out a replacement pair immediately before I even sent back the first pair. In fact, they were giving me over a month to return them. The second pair arrived in perfect condition, on time and the first pair crossed in the mail. Amazon makes it so easy to do business with them.

I admit it. I have an enormous head. These large Aviators fit me so well. I've been buying Serengetis for two decades now. My wife hates them. She says they're so 70's. Or they make me look like a motorcycle cop. I don't care. I've tried the other fancy brands. Maui Jim, Rayban, and other brands costing twice as much but none of them have the crystal clear sharp beautiful to gaze through lenses of Serengeti. I wish I could say my Serengetis have lasted as long as some of the other reviewers but I'm pretty rough on them. Mine only seem to last two or three years. I don't like the little logo they added to the glass a few years back, but you don't notice it while they're on.
