Great sunglasses with excellent optics and visual acuity. The polarization really helps provide definition around objects in bright lighting conditions.

Lightweight sunglasses that are comfortable to wear.

If you use quality sunglasses, and have never tried Serengeti's, you are missing out. I have tried many of the common quality names in sunglasses: Serengeti, Ray Ban, Bolle, and others. Serengeti's are the equal or typically superior to the others.

I am replacing, or retiring, by 25 yo pair of Serengeti's with this newer model - Granada. I choose the class lens and full metal frame for durablility and quality. The lenses are just superior, polarization is in the glass, no coatings to scratch. Colors are true, glare is reduced, and the lens self adjusting. Really cool stuff, and works great.

The frame is metal, with a full nose bridge, an inverted "U". The temple piece has either the same or similar material on the back 1/2 of temple (tail side). The nose piece and temple piece feel slightly rubbery and grippy. Not overly rubbery or gripping, just the right amount. The temple hinges are spring loaded, and can pronate outwards - meaning those of us with larger heads, the temples will bent out to accomodate our big melons. The build quality on the frame appears excellent, finish is of high quality, and all joints tight. The color I picked is Espresso - a dark brown. Very attractive.

One word of caution for those of us with larger heads, I find these very comfortable, but since the frame fits by the hinge bending out (pronating), there is some pressure. You may find this either comfortable or irritating. My experience is with time, you will become comfortable, and not notice. But there may be some discomfort with initial use, specifically when wearing over extended periods of time.

Like I said, this is a full metal frame with glass lens.

My wife bought me my first pair of Serengeti sunglasses nearly 25 years ago. I'd never owned any "real sunglasses" and I didn't think there'd be much difference, but boy was I wrong! Serengeti lenses are fantastic. I've been a loyal customer ever since. In the past I've had the Drivers lenses. This time I got Polarized Drivers. They're just a little bit darker but really are great for being on the water, driving or just hanging out and looking cool. Great service and quick delivery.

I needed sunglasses that were 1. Amber, 2. Photochromic (darkening), 3. Polarized, and 4. GLASS, not plastic. I tried Costco where I had always found great prices on discontinued high end sunglasses, but this time around they just didn't have anything that met my criteria. They did have Maui Jim's which I had also purchased in the past, but I really prefer Serengeti.
In this case, I called the Amazon seller and asked about alternatives and verified that these glasses met all of my requirements. I purchased them on Amazon (not directly through the seller) for about 45% of the MSRP. I grant you that they are probably a recently discontinued model, but they appear to be stylish and I've been wearing them regularly. I would do it again.

Btw, I tried to send my Costco Serengetis in to Serengeti for replacement of a cracked lens, but they just couldn't accommodate me since they were several years old. Also note that neither Serengeti, nor Maui Jim will send you a replacement lens even if they have it. They both claim that different manufacturing runs may produce variations in color and they don't want to do anything less than a perfect repair ..... and collect the exorbitant charge for that repair.

As a pilot, I have worn many pairs of glasses through the years. Everything from the "quick I just broke my glasses, pick a pair off the stand at walmart" to nice brand name Oakley at the Mall. I generally have to really be in direct sunlight to 'want' to wear sunglasses. The Serengeti's are very light, comfortable not distortion in the lenses and It's almost habit to want to put them on now. They come with a great sturdy case and wipe. Hope I don't lose them.

I purchased these for particular use in driving. They rest easily on the temples, have a nice no-slip nose piece, and are light weight. While somewhat expensive, they are an excellent value considering the number of hours spent driving each year.

    -Great sunglasses!

These glasses not only look good but they really help filter out glare and sharpen images in bright sunlight. My wife stole my pair so I bought a second pair. Highly recommend to anyone willing to spend the money.

Like most people, I've owned many, many pairs of sunglasses, but for quality and performance, Serengeti's are always the finest. What I truly like best is the lens color. The brown actually brightens everything instead of darkening with a grey scale tinted lens. I truly enjoy these glasses.
