5.0 out of 5 stars They'll never understand....
Make no mistake about it; Blood for Blood music is for a very specific audience. So specific in fact that most people just don't "get it." This album (Serenity) departs somewhat from the past format both lyrically and musically - but it's essentially the same old Blood for Blood - and people still don't get it.

Make no mistake about it; Blood for Blood music is for a very specific audience. So specific in fact that most people just don't "get it." This album (Serenity) departs somewhat from the past format both lyrically and musically - but it's essentially the same old Blood for Blood - and people still don't get it.
I don't think anyone is really happy when a band puts out a replica of its past efforts - and certainly the musicians aren't. I like Serenity as much as Outlaw Anthems etc. The venom is still there; it's just delivered via a right-cross instead of a haymaker. Get it?

I haven't found anything else that sounds more like a soundtrack to my life. From my trailer park upbringing, to the city streets, to prison and back again - Blood For Blood music has provided me and anyone else who's ever slept in their car and "prayed to the night sky" a weird sort of solace. It's hard to explain, but this music is like family.

This Album is so amazing in so many ways..it starts off with serinity which is so awsome...That really hits home and then it justs gets really hardcore and i start getting rage inside..then on song # 7 they do a hell of a cover of a oldie..Well if your a fan of Blood 4 Blood or want to get into them I recommend this cd and all of the other ones...Must Buy all of them ...And Blood 4 Blood Still Proves to be Hardcore White Thrash From Boston...

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive change of course, August 29, 2004
This review is from: Serenity (Audio CD)
I heard Revenge on Society a few years back and realized the potential of these guys to be a solid hardcore punk band with songs like wasted youth crew, all f'd up, b'tch called hope, and shut my eyes forever. This ep confirms my realization. They really surprised me with 'City boy' 'Hanging on the corner' and the impressive punk cover of Gary Allen's Runaway. These are seriously catchy songs. Think of Biohazard jamming with The Offspring and you'll hear the sound these guys have acquired. I'm interested in hearing what they will sound like by their next album.

This album is more like an EP, with only 9 songs, 2 of which are the same tracks and 1 of which is an intro with only words. The shortness of the album aside, this album is just perfection from start to finish. Every song is truly great. There are heavier hardcore songs like Serenity, Live the Lie, and My Jesus Mercy, which sound like Revenge on Society and Spit My Last Breath-era BFB. Then there is faster, melodic punk rock songs like Hanging on the Corner, A Rock n' Roll song, and City Boy. There is also a cover of the oldies song Runaway, which is undeniably catchy and fun, very cool. This album is just great, just like all the old Blood for Blood albums, they're the best hardcore punk band around. Very highly recommended to all fans of old BFB, punk and hardcore fans, and fans of general great rock n' roll, you should love this! PLEASE KEEP MAKING MUSIC BLOOD FOR BLOOD!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars another great cd, May 30, 2007
This review is from: Serenity (Audio CD)
Blood for Blood is a major staple of my music. Their lyrics provide a picture of a hard life, and that you're not alone in the turmoil. This album is not as fast the others, but still has the same ideas. The ideas cause you to accept, laugh, and live on. Blood for Blood fan? Get it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boston heroes, June 17, 2006
This review is from: Serenity (Audio CD)
Blood for Blood are truly one of my all time favorite bands. They're songs are focused on subject material that only the outcasts and rejects of society would understand about. By doing this, they show that they truly care about their fans. Definitley not a band for the easily offended though.
Favorite songs: "Hanging on the corner", "Rock & Roll song", "MY Jesus Mercy"

5.0 out of 5 stars Good strong release for veteran musicians, December 29, 2004
This review is from: Serenity (Audio CD)
Blood for Blood has been an absolute staple in the hardcore scenes of today, and yesterday. Releasing album after album of knockouts, 'Serenity' proves to be a cult classic in the waiting, touching on all their roots in classic Blood for Blood fashion. From 'Live the Lie', a song about the way hardcore is looked at by today's youth, delivered just as Blood for Blood intended...Fast, Hard, and straight, to 'My Jesus Mercy', pulling guitar parts from 'Spit My Last Breath', Not to mention the very well done over of Gary Allens 'Runaway', this record will hit you hard from the start and hit you harder come the end. A must have for any Blood for Blood fan.

1.0 out of 5 stars what happened to these guys?, August 7, 2004
This review is from: Serenity (Audio CD)
This album would maybe be a 2 or 3 star if it were any other band. But, as it is, it is a BLOOD FOR BLOOD album which means its gotta be good right?

Wrong.

I know that this band has been through some tough times and I am surprised they are still around today. But at the same time, by changing their sound to a more 'mainstream' punk and hxc audience, I almost wish they weren't around anymore. Anyone who doesnt believe me should listen to 'spit my last breath' and 'revenge on society' and do a side-by-side comparison before saying I'm wrong. On these earlier albums, they never tried to please all tastes or fit in with other bands. They just unleashed hell in the only way they knew how. Which is why I am saddened to hear such watered down stuff coming from this band these days.

Maybe they just need to get the message from the fans. Buy the old stuff, not the new. Trust me, there is plenty enough raw hate and rage there to keep you going for years. The new stuff is just trying to be what Blood for Blood is not.
