5.0 out of 5 stars City Durable and long life
I've had these tires on my old road bike (27x 1/25) for over an year and half. They've have been on my bike for over 1000 miles now. I commute into San Francisco and have to deal with many obstacles, worst of which, is the endless patches of shards of glass. I've only had 4 punctures and the last 3 have been after the 1k mark.

These are very sturdy tires,...

1.0 out of 5 stars I'd keep looking if I were you
In less than two weeks and with 100 miles this tire was able to not protect my inner tube almost every other ride for a total of six times (mostly thorns). I checked the tire to make sure it wasn't the same thorn doing the damage, but that was never the case, so I can only attribute it to luck or just very crappy tire. The last straw was when I hit debris on the sidewall...

I commute into San Francisco and have to deal with many obstacles, worst of which, is the endless patches of shards of glass. I've only had 4 punctures and the last 3 have been after the 1k mark.

These are very sturdy tires, which are relatively light weight and with great traction. I've had days where I've taken out nasty chunks of glass, but didn't lose air pressure, they have save me many times from being late to work.

I'm trying out the Gatorskins now, but the tires are still in riding condition, but with to many glass scars to ride in the city. For those that ride fixies or like to skid to a stop, there is a purple layer that becomes visible to let you know when it's time to switch them out (but I still don't see them on mine).

Yes, they are not well known, but I also was recommended these by the guys at the bike shop. I'm glad they did.

Bottom line: Amazing puncture protection with long life, yet affordable. Plus they make old 27'' wheels look more modern (sad that they only come in black for that size). If you need good tires but don't want to shell out the $40+ for each tire then get these, you won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect training/ all-around tire, July 20, 2010

I've been using these for a couple of years now, and I couldn't be happier with them. The hard center and soft shoulders make for a tire that roll efficiently and corners like it's on rails, and the flat protection is excellent: at least as good as "commuter" tires at twice the price. And the 700x23 holds 130 lbs PSI! You just don't see that at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent city tires at a great price., January 14, 2010
I ride a road bike set up for commuting in New York City. A perpetual problem is dealing with punctures from all the road debris. After my last flat, the local bike shop recommended Serfas Seca tires. While not as well-known as Marathons, Gatorskins, etc., these were supposedly tough tires at a great price, loved by those in-the-know.

I've had this tire on the rear for about 1000 miles without a flat. While there are a few visible cuts, it's holding up much better than other tires I've had. It's also fairly lightweight and feels fast. I'm very happy with the quality and will get another one for the front.

I have the 700x25, but it really measures closer to a 700x23.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superior price / performance, May 1, 2011
This review is from: Serfas Seca Wire Bead Tire with FPS (Sports)
Have been using the Serfas Seca and the Michelin Dynamic, size 700x28c, on two different road bikes for several months, riding on asphalt country roads. The Serfas is easily the superior tire.

Unlike the Michelin, with which I've already experienced four flats, the Serfas Seca has not experienced a single flat. The FPS on the Seca appears to be very effective, preventing glass shards from penetrating to the tubes.

The Seca rolls well, and inflates to 120 psi without any issue. Note that using a digital caliper, the 700x28c actually measures only only 27.2mm wide. This does not seem to be much, but it is noticeably narrower than the Michelin Dynamic, with calipers to 28.5mm

Would definitely buy the Secas again; it's nice to go out on a long ride in the country with the confidence that you will not likely have to stop to put in a new tube.

5.0 out of 5 stars serfas seca 700x25 bicycle tire, October 17, 2011

these are very good looking and long lasting tires. the rubber is extemely hard and the red side walls look wonderful on my red trek elance. it took about 5 hours of riding for the mould lines to wear off. eventually i began ripping through the corners faster and faster as i gained confidence in the tires. im not a pro. i just like to ride. but these really are a good training tire that will deliver a long life and they do look wonderful. i will buy these tires again and i have bought other serfas tires and products. i ride a lot. i have five bikes. two street, two mountian, and a cruiser i loan out to kids and to run to the store for groceries. im a siezure patient and put about 3-5k miles a year on my bikes. i pull a trailer behind my trek 930 and can pull 300lbs anywhere. anywhere. i also pull a kayak to go fishing. love my bikes. serfas makes good products. these are good tires.

5.0 out of 5 stars great tire, August 5, 2011

I got these tires because I was tired of getting flats and paying big bucks for bike tires. I ride a 1000 miles a month, every month and these babies roll me all the way. they are what they say they are almost perfect. Just last week when I was cleaning my bike after a ride, I pulled a piece of wire out of the middle of the tire, this would normally give me a flat. No problems and I still ride on this tire with confidence. Tires that cost twice as much are no better and I get 2 of these babies for the price of one gatorskin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, Great Riding Tire, July 28, 2011

This review is from: Serfas Seca Wire Bead Tire with FPS (Sports)
These tires are an exceptional value for the quality you get. I ride my road bike only to train for mountain biking, so my main desire is to have a fast rolling tire that is puncture resistant so I am not stuck changing a tube when I would rather be riding. These tires roll very nicely and actually feel a bit more comfortable than the Specialized tires I had been running at the same pressures on the same rims. So far no punctures even though I ride through all the various debris that sits at the side of the road.

The wire bead makes these tires a bit harder to mount than a folding bead, but that was not a surprise.

Whenever I wear out my first set of these tires, I will buy another set to replace. Great value for a great tire.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Tire for the price., July 8, 2011
This review is from: Serfas Seca Wire Bead Tire with FPS (Sports)
I have these tires (700x23c) on my fixed gear commuter and have put about 800 miles on them so far this year. Commuting into and out of Manhattan 6 days a week these tires have held up great. These are fast rolling tires that look great as well as getting great traction and cornering well. As opposed to some tire I have rode that do great when it is dry and suck when its wet the surfas seca tires perform admirably for a road tire even in wet conditions. After about 800 miles I have yet to get a puncture flat even with the shattered glass and other debris on the road side that is a common occurrence. The only reason these got 4 stars instead of five is because I have gotten 2 pinch flats in the last 3 months. Whereas my Bontrager race lite hard case tires that are on my Bianchi Road bike have well over 1,500 miles and have yet to get a pinch flat (or a puncture flat for that matter) riding the same roads as the surfas. All in all for a $25 tire they are awesome and I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good for the Price, March 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
At first the tires felt really sticky and seemed like I had to put it extra effort to pedal. The tires corner pretty well; there's grippy layers on the sides of the fps band that help with that. I've already had a few rocks stuck to them that when I ride, I could feel the bump with each revolution so I'd have to get off and remove it. Either way, no flats so far, and much better than my stock ones!

Nice looking, also.

These Tires are still kickin butt!!! I take my bike out almost everyday! And i've only seen bout 2 flats in the last month and 1 was due to a massive pothole so that really doesn't count
