Blew Me Away! Astonishing, April 25, 2003

You wouldn't know it from the remarkable lack of audience noises, but this is an electric, white hot live performance -which I discovered in the Penguin Guide and sought out. It is taken at a very fast tempo, but never sounds forced, and is extraordinarily powerful. The recording is very up front and clear, as are most of the Chandos discs I've heard. This is not a cheap disc - there's no fill-up - but it is worth every dollar.
