Sweeeeeet sweet samba from 1930s Brazil.,

This review is from: Serie Bis (Audio CD)
EMI's "Cantores Do Radio" series is a great look at the popular singers who came before the bossa nova era... plus, with two CDs at a single CD price, these are a pretty sweet deal. Sylvio Caldas was one of the great samba singers of the 1930s, and this 2-CD set sticks to his best stuff from back then. A fluid, relaxed vocalist with the smoothness of Russ Columbo or Bing Crosby, Caldas has a super-sweet voice and all these antique-sounding arrangements frame first-rate material. This is one of the real gems of this series -- highly recommended!
