I am very aware that many layback artists release CD's with a compilation of their "best" recordings to make a few more bucks. Knowing my countrywoman Mercedes' professionalism, honesty and dignity, I dare say this is not such a case. If you do not own ANY CD by Mercedes Sosa and wonder why so many people are attracted to her incredible voice and soul, this double CD is what you need. Very few of her best recordings were left out of the selection. To whomever did this selection, well... hats off!! Everything is included: sweet Argentine traditional music, bold Latin America new songs, tangos, and even Argentine rocks. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! And when you're done listening both CD's then you ask for more. That's our "Mecha" "La Negra" Sosa, Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations, as designated this year by UNESCO: an incredible human being and impressive artist.

Tuve la oportunidad de escuchar a Mercedes Sosa en el Teatro de la Ciudad en Mexico y desde entonces quede cautivado por lo vibrante de su voz y lo lleno de vida, pasion y esperanza por el futuro de los pueblos a los que canta. Las canciones incluidas en este disco son de lo mejor de su repertorio.
