5.0 out of 5 stars Serie Raizes Do Samba, November 27, 2001

This review is from: Serie Raizes Do Samba (Audio CD)
Since Carmen recorded almost 300 songs in Brazil before she ever came to the United States, there are many crossovers on CD's being offered today. What I like about this compilation from EMI is that it includes Synval Silva's beautiful "Adeus Batucada" which I have not found on any other CD and is featured in the documentary "Bananas Is My Business" as well as the seldom featured Assis Valente's emotional "Camisa Listada" and other hits from 1935 to 1940 that truly show the artistry and incredible diction of this fantasic lady. So sit back, make yourself comfortable, travel back to the golden age of Brazilian music and listen to the genius that was Carmen Miranda.
