Poor Software non Vista Compliant,

This review is from: DrawPlus X2 Graphics Studio (CD-ROM)
I have owned graphics &/or web editing software since my first 386 Compaq PC in the early 90's. Later I discovered I liked the PaintShop Pro version best, but when the Pro 10 version went out of production, I considered new graphics software. The Serif software was suppose to be reasonably priced & compatable, even stating themselves to be "Vista's new graphics program", quote.I have found it to be anything but so. In fact, a number of functions and the entire tutorial cannot be read & fails to work at all. File extensions are lost and misplaced, causing lost work, and many of the functions will lock up your computer. I have had a total of 119 registry errors since installing it, and overall it is not only a poor performing software, but much of it doesn't work. This is not a hastedly written review either. I have owned the software for several months and have logged in well over 250 hours of "trying to make it work". Plus you have to call Serif to give them your name and phone number when you install the software so they can send you useless emails and promotions for other things to buy. My satisfaction with the buying experience overall is 0. I gave them 1 star simply because it was the lowest I could go. I would request a refund if I could. Maybe X3, factory imbedded, or later versions will be better. But personally, I'll look elsewhere for affoardable graphics programs. I certainly would not buy a PC with this software imbedded into it unless it was clearly demonstrated to work before I purchased it.

I'm still figuring out all the possibilities with this program, still I'm very satisfied with the program and the results of the applications that I've used it on so far. It has multiple applications for me and I am more than pleased. Great buy, excellent product.

AutoCAD Support is Weak,
This review is from: DrawPlus X2 Graphics Studio (CD-ROM)
I purchased this in order to create technical illustrations based on existing AutoCAD drawings. This product does not live up to its claims of opening dwg files. They don't look right, text is displaced, and they do not come in with the correct units (metric vs English).

This is a good product and I still have to master its use. I was used to a flood fill with one of my older drawing programs and I have yet to get the product to do what I wish it to. It is probably a matter of understanding the programs.

This is an excellent program for those who don`t want to spend $$$$ on expensive programs like Adobe Illustrator, in fact it has some features that Adobe doesn`t have. The only draw back is that the program is not compatable with the Mac`s at school and I had to purchase the other guys product anyway. Any buyers out there???

I started using Serif's Scrapbook Artist 2 which I loved to use for making ecards. I bought DrawPlus X2 for the purpose of creating email and ecards with my own drawings. It has a lot of tools that can encourage creativity. After creating a document that you want to email you can convert it to a PDF file to share with others. I also want to try creating simple animations for use in my emails. I get so very tired of the emails that go around particularly the constant chain letters. This way I can stay in touch with in or out of town relatives and friends. I have received compliments on the ecards I've created. One friend told me me she liked my ecard but please don't send chain mail. I highly recommend both Serif's Scrapbook Artist 2 and DrawPlus X2 as great ways to encourage creativity and stay in touch with friends and relatives.

I am low tech and I bought this as a gift for a child who wants to draw online. It was overkill.I imagine it is more appropriate for engineers and graphic artists, but it was more than I needed. Also it arrived in a smashed up box so it was not suitable for gifting, but Puget Sound gave me a prompt refund and easily handled my return.

This item epitomizes the saying that you get what you pay for. For very basic graphic design it would be alright, but beyond that it is pretty weak. Break down and buy the slightly more expensive Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. It will pay off in the long run.
