Born, raised, and educated in the Los Angeles area, Evans discovered at an early age that he wanted to be a syndicated cartoonist. He worked as a high school art teacher as well as a graphic artist and a promotion manager for a television station while pursuing his dream of writing a comic strip. After several failed attempts, he was inspired by the antics of his then nine-year-old daughter-and Luann was born. Evans lives with his wife in Southern California.

Luann reminds me of my teen years with all the accompanying angst. I have every one of them and intend to continue collecting them (I am almost 60!). I smile, laugh and sometimes weep for her. If you want a relaxing time in quiet moments, take on Luann. My children have asked me to leave these books to them in my will.

I like cartoon books, they condense the story and generally are humerous. Luann fits the bill. Teenagers have a difficult time of it and that is what makes this one funny.
