Friends & family have been giving me baseball CD's for years but Sermon on the Mound is a whole different genre. McCutcheon'e love for the game comes through as he crafts lyrics using baseball analogies that teach us how to live with integrity. He makes us laugh with his tribute to Yogi Berra and cry with the depiction of Peewee Reese in solidarity with Jackie Robinson in the face of racist taunts in a game in Cincinnati. The CD has a rich range of musical styles - country, rap, folk, rock. It's become my default disk and I highly unequivocably recommend it.

If you ever played baseball as a kid and really enjoyed the game, odds are you'll love this CD. John McCutcheon captures in song something quintessential about essence of the game. Listening to the CD brought me back to sandlot games during the summer and little league games and the simple joy of baseball. The Sermon on the Mound is worth the price of the CD alone. I highly recommend the music to anyone who enjoys folk music and what baseball used to be.

This CD evokes the childhood flavor of neighborhood games and the joy of the game. Was perfect for my resident baseball nut!

Heard this CD on NPR. Bought as gift for Father's Day. Husband loved it.
