The book of Isaiah is one of the three longest books of the Bible and quoted more by Jesus and New Testament prophets than any other Book. It has remained an important and influential text and is as relevant for Christians today as it has been throughout the centuries. Not only does this book illuminate the more difficult elements of the text, but it is done so by one of the greatest Protestant theologians, and is ably translated by T.L.H. Parker.

About the Author

John Calvin (1509-64), reformer and theologian, was one of the major figures of the Reformation. Born in Noyon, Picardy (France), he was a cure at 12, and at 14 was studying at the university in Paris, becoming a lawyer. Invited to Geneva to set up the Reformed church he lived there, apart from a period of exile, until his death. From his influence through writing, preaching and his integration between church and city, he had great influence on visiting Protestants who carried his ideas to many other parts of the world.
