Editorial Reviews

Ask Still Remains, the young Grand Rapids, MI band, about what the last two years have been like and they’ll begin by telling you how much they’ve grown as people and musicians. I’ve grown up a lot, explains vocalist T.J. Miller. I feel like I’ve come into my own as a songwriter. I haven’t been afraid to write about things that I might have only alluded to on the last record. My lyrics have always been personal, but the new stuff is deeper, subjects I needed to and wanted to get out. Produced by Steve Evetts (Story Of The Year, Lifetime, Saves The Day) and mixed by Logan Mader (ex-Machine Head, ex-Soulfly guitars), The Serpent palatably demonstrates the culmination of the last two years of Still Remains’ efforts and experiences. With a new line-up intact, Still Remains have written their best music to date. While songs like ‘Stay Captive’ and ‘Dancing With The Enemy’ showcase the band’s versatility and musical growth towards the more alternative, songs like ‘The Wax Walls Of An Empty Room’ confirm that the band will continue to hold their footing within the metal community.

5.0 out of 5 stars Give Me a Break, August 22, 2007

A good portion of the reviews for this CD are way off! Does a band these days have to scream like maniacs every song to satifsy their un-appreciative "metalcore" fans? This is a sound, hard rockin', great effort from Still Remains. Geez, let these guys get creative if they want!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great All-around album, October 23, 2008
This review is from: The Serpent (MP3 Download)
Some spots are heavy, some spots are softer and more melodic. I loved their 1st album, and I also love this one. No matter which style their music slips into, there's always a certain 'groovability' to their tracks.

What I mean is this: I've listened to this album since it came out, at least a few times a week. Guess what? I still find myself singing along in my head and bobbing my head a little bit while it's playing. I don't even notice it or feel like it's gotten 'old' because of how many times I've heard it. This also holds true for their first album, although you may want this one instead if you prefer your music with less screaming lyrics.

PS - Hope you like this album because it's the last one from them you'll see. :(

1.0 out of 5 stars BIGGEST SELLOUT CD OF 2007, September 3, 2007
By
This review is from: The Serpent (Audio CD)
Of Love And Lunacy was a masterpiece, and was one of the greatest metalcore albums created... looks like they hated it so much... this is exactly what happens when you start wearing eyeliner and singing like a faggot... biggest let down of the year, made me hate this band...
