This is a very comfortable, good looking couch.

Assembly was a little slow with the provided tools but not terribly complicated or painful.

It is just as comfortable as a bed as it is a sofa.

I ordered this sofa from Hayneedle (another website), because they had a sale over Labor Day weekend, so it was a little cheaper. I paid 539 bucks. Their delivery estimate was accurate. Shipping was free. The item was delivered by Home Direct (they brought it into my home). The packaging was in good shape. The size of the box was about 12 inches deep by 82 inches long and 50 inches tall; the sofa is shipped in "bed" mode, so it is flat in the box. Aside from plastic wrap and some very thin styrofoam wrap, there is no other padding inside the box to protect the sofa. There were about 6 small holes (each about the size of an inch) in the box, and one hole about 3 inches wide. I used my flashlight to peer into the holes to make sure there was no damage to the sofa (before signing for and accepting delivery)...everything looked fine.

The box was easy to open, and it was easy to cut-up; the cut-up pieces fit easily in my 48 gallon recycle garbage can.

The delivery receipt said it weighed 152 pounds.

The legs/hardware were included in a box that was zipped inside a small compartment underneath the sofa. The 4 legs were easy to install (4 bolts per leg); a small bolt wrench and an allen wrench were included (although I found it easier to use a small adjustable wrench that I had, plus the allen wrench). The sofa sits firmly on the floor (no wobbling).

The welding on the legs was a bit disappointing. There are about 6 welds around each leg; the welds hold the tubular leg to a rectangular metal plate; the 4 bolt holes are in the metal plate. It might be okay (everything is fine for now), but it would have been better if they had welded the tubular leg to the metal plate...all the way around.

There's another dude here who has like the olympic gold medal of reviews. I can't do that. But I can speak to a few matters others have raised.

THis is not that heavy. If you are used to dragging a full size garbage can down the driveway once a week, you can handle assembling this thing by yourself. Here's a hint though when installing the legs at the four corners. Manipulate the folding parts to (1) fold up from the corner/leg base you are installing to give you enough room and (2) prop the rest of the couch in a position to facilitate installation of the leg you are working on. This will make more sense once you have the couch in hand, but trust me, it is easier by far to do it this way.

Second, careful how far you tighten the bolts. I snapped one of them off myself. You do not need to get them super tight, they give you those nuts with the plastic 'loctite' insert. Just get them pretty tight. They won't go anywhere.

Personally, I find the armrest/headrest to be uncomfortable as a pillow. Get a real pillow and enjoy your nap.

This is definitely not leather. A high quality vinylicious material, not too different from the base level leatherette they put in mercedes seats these days, but softer and more texture. For $500 it's a nice surface. The version I have has black stitching. Wah. I was looking forward to the white contrasting baseball stitching. Oh well.

The seat is not super soft, but it provides good support for your back when napping. If you have ever owned a futon, you may have discovered, as I did, that a futon is no substitute for a real mattress. God my back hurt on that futon. Anyway, this is not a mattress, but it is a step above a futon. You will not wake up from a nap with a backache at least.

My husband and I ordered this sofa from Amazon. We got free shipping and paid close to $600. We had seen this same sofa advertised under a different name for up to $900 elsewhere.

Ordering a sofa, sight unseen, from the internet is a bit unnerving. We had no idea if some piece of junk was going to show up, but this sofa appeared to meet our needs. And much to our surprise we love it. It looks nice, has a good weight to it, seems pretty sturdy in terms of construction, and flexibly works for our small space. The click clak mechanisms work great. You can raise and lower the arms or back really easily. We like the look of it without arms, but when you want to lie down and read, being able to suddenly create arms is great. And much to our surprise we have used the lounger position on one side of the couch. The bed seemed plenty comfortable.

The couch is great, very comfortable and easy to convert.

I actually replaced an old couch that was the same style of futon and cost the same amount - this one is just wayyyyy better quality and more solid. The bonded leather is pretty decent.

I read through all of the reviews first and really struggled whether or not to buy it...here is my response to many of the negative reviews I saw others writing:

1. It's a $500 convertible couch (give or take depending on when you read this review), don't expect it to be real leather or something - you aren't dropping $2K on it.
2. Assembly: you have to put on four legs, you know, because it's a couch. Yes, the included tools suck so be prepared to use your own. What did you expect? That they would send you top of the line tools? Otherwise, assembly doesn't take THAT long and I did it all on my own; unpacking, assembly, placement, etc. Chill out people.
3. The smell. Once again, people, it is not real leather. If it were real leather you'd be gawking by how awesome that "new leather smell" is. Yes it's going to that plasticy smell for a few days.

All in all, assembly takes like an hour (maybe), and the smell lingers for a week or so. Beyond that, it's a great couch and a very good price. But if that stuff bothers you, I suggest you drop a few more hundred on a couch which doesn't have that one week of "inconvenience."

Those who are realistic, get the couch, it's nice.
