Houston, Texas' Boyz N Blue also known as the Boss Hogg Outlawz led by Slim Thug with nationally recognized release Serve & Collect. Leading off with "We Boss Hoggin'" is a solo by their fearless leader taking excerpts / concept from Thug Life's "Str8 Ballin'". Riding side to side on "Wood Wheel" over deep horn section stopping traffic. Taking pride in your ride is essential just as the subject matter on "Ride On 4s" over melodic keys. As a standout for the album "Recognize A Playa" with combination back to back flow highlighted with lyrical content "...you know its me cuzz S-I-R / Northside Houston, Texas boys on the bar..." Member Killa Kyleon has a solo performance "Badge On My Neck" has conversation for cheap talk. "Back To Front" is another highlight for the LP by the performance and the production. Representing where they are from with slang and their culture on "Straight Outta Texas" including notable "...you get pennies for your thoughts, Killa get stacks..." The soulful organ tones on "This Is For My Gs" complemented the mainstream arrangment. As a motto to Serve & Collect "I'm A Hogg" exemplifies that it is not just a slogan. "It's That PJ" takes the psyche of member PJ in three verses. The R&B tune with a hard edge "Cheating" should have taken another angle to be more effective as "I Gotta Get It". Picking up the signature tempo on "Heat On My Side" to conclude their round. As a southern release this is perfect to ride to and show off your car as four of the album's subject but fell to mediocre lyrics and performance. Terry Allen produced four and ten tracks produced by Mr. Lee kept the constant flow between songs with various horn arrangements. This eight man crew BHO was more effective traveling in twos or more. Account paid!

The Boss Hog Outlawz just dropped a JEWEL! This album comes out the gate hard. I was a little skeptical at first b/c a lot of times, when a good rapper comes out with his boys on a cd, it's rarely very good. This is not the case with Serve & Collect. All the beats are great and each rapper can hold his own. In fact, as much as I love Already Platinum from Slim Thug, this album just might be better. This is definitely the first album to drop in 07 with straight fire! The BH Outlawz have set the bar high for everyone else who's coming out with an album this year. 5 STARS

4.0 out of 5 stars Slap it in the trunk, March 8, 2007
This review is from: Serve & Collect (Audio CD)
Serve & Collect (Slim Thug & Co.) is one of the better rap albums that I've heard so far this year. You definitely have to be a fan of southern rap to really appreciate (and rock out to) this album, but I think that even the most jaded 'early 90's underground hip hopper' won't be able to resist chanting those infectiously melodic southern hooks, and bouncing along to those wonderful 75 BPM 808's (from Miami to Texas, the staple of southern slap). Serve & Collect is an impressive album. Trying to make your boys as rich and famous as you is an admirable yet extremely difficult thing to actually achieve (and which is more often than not a complete and utter disaster ... just ask Eminem). Slim Thug definitely took a little gamble putting this album out, but backed by good, catchy, song writing and production, I think that it paid-off pretty well. The lesson here: don't forget about your loser friends once you start hanging with Pharrell (a lesson that I must remind myself of everyday) ...

5.0 out of 5 stars OMG - they are cursing and rapping about their whips, March 1, 2007

...and I love it. I would not change anything about this album. It's absolutely perfect.

It captures the H-town sound really well. It's makes my head bob everytime.
...and that sure as hell sounds like a DJ Screw sample in Wood Wheel.
