5.0 out of 5 stars It does the job
The Server+ exam is a tough one for sure. You will need a good text book to study from but also some hands on experience will help. The only reason I purchased this book was because of the great reviews it has been receiving. 3.0 out of 5 stars Who is "A Reader"
I have read this book and agree that it is a good book and well writen, however, I have also read the reviews and am somewhat entrigued! There are a lot of reviews by "a reader", not all that unusual I know but for example the latest review (19/8) by "a reader" says "The best book on the market......... saved me money by only having to buy one...

5.0 out of 5 stars It does the job, October 13, 2001
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
The Server+ exam is a tough one for sure. You will need a good text book to study from but also some hands on experience will help. The only reason I purchased this book was because of the great reviews it has been receiving. This book does the job if your interested in passing the Server+ exam and you do not have tons of hands on experience. This book strictly focuses on the actual exam, that is why I believe it is so popular for just a text book. You don't have to be a technical geek to understand the concepts in this book. You can tell the Server+ Certification Bible was written with the reader in mind. You don't have to have years of server experience to pass this exam just a good text book that focuses strictly on the topics needed to pass. I'm happy with it because it helped me pass the exam and I just wanted everyone to know :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Make this your primary study guide, October 20, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
Before I decided on a Server+ study guide I check out "Server+ Exam Cram",
Server+ Exam Prep: Exam: SK0-001 (wrong exam number it's a O not a 0)" and
Server+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide" these books are very good, but
Server+ Certification Bible by Trevor Kay comes out the winner as far as I'm
concerned. I am only 19 years old with very little network server
experience. I ended up buying the All-in-One book, and the Server+
Bible. The Server+ Bible was the more exam accurate of the two. When I say
accurate I mean that this book was very helpful with helping the reader
understand what to expect on the real exam and what key points to remember.
Now I am going for my MSCE.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Server + Study Book Available, March 25, 2002

This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
This is an excellent teaching and review guide for the Comptia Server+ exam. The study material is 502 pages, with factual information regarding every aspect of Server knowledge, along with easy to understand explanations of less obvious facts. Each chapter has a review, and a 100 question practice test covering all the material is at the end of the book. The included CD also has a 264 question practice test divided into four parts. The book is logical, easy to read, and contains no irrevelant or made-up information, as is found in many other Server + guides on the market. It is written by one author rather than a committee, which may account for its conciseness and readabiltiy. This is one of the the best overall Certification books I have read, and give it a wholehearted 5 star rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommend from a lot of people, November 27, 2001
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
I have been hearing great thing about this book from a lot of different people who used it to study from and pass the Server+ exam. I have to agree, this book is book is well organized and easy to read. I was mostly impressed with the layout of the book. I liked how the author has the exam objectives laid out throughout the book so you know what you are studying. The review questions are simulated identically to actual exam test questions. The book comes with a CD-ROM full of practice test questions and free Server/network monitoring tools. I recommend this book to everyone who is interested in achieving his or her Server+ certification or to anyone interested in Network server operations.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one great reference book - exam or not., August 8, 2001
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
Since I started working with the beat process for Server+ I have tried to find books that take the exam part objective by objective and then give you the information you need. At the same time I also want a book that does more than spout out exam questions and answers this book seems to take care of these things.

The book is broken down into seven parts with part 1 taking on the installation, environment topics. Part2 covers the RAID area very well and also the operating systems like Windows 2000, Netware and Unix.

In part 3 is for the upgrade path for motherboards, hard drives, nics, ups and adapters. Part 4 is maintenance with backup, system monitoring and basic safety requirements. In part 5 you'll deal with security issues and different environmental issues like humidity, A/C and ventilation and filtration.

Part 6 is the section I was most impressed with, troubleshooting from hardware to software and the techniques and the right diagnostic tools to use. Finally is part 7 Disaster recovery and what it takes to back up and restore.

The book has a good pre-assessment questions and answer section with each chapter and the scenarios seems to reflect the normal work environment. Also include is a cd rom with hundreds of questions and the software is powered by Boson. Overall everything is here and the value seems fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent practice test questions and not a dry read, July 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
I am glad to read other peoples good reviews of this book. I purchased my copy in Mid July when it first came out and so far I think it's great. The best part of this book are the practice test questions. They are the best ones I have seen so far. This book is not "dry" like most study guides I've read but very easy to read and understand. The author really knows what the reader wants and gets to the point of what you need to know for the real Server+ exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you didn't pass, it was your own fault, October 9, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
If you didn't pass the Server+ exam by using this book as your study resource, it was your own fault. I have been in the computer field for 6 months now. I started my career with the A+ certification and then followed up with the Network+ certification. It was only logical to go for the Server+ certification next. I do not have a lot of practical hands on server experience so I really needed a top notch study guide to get me through. This book actually delivered, and I passed
this exam with only 6 months computer experience
and not with the 2 years experience CompTIA wants you to have before taking this exam. The key is to understand each topic
and how to perform each task. It is not that hard if you use a little bit of your brain and memorization skills. The rest of the exam is common sense. This book points you in the right direction on what to learn for the exam and does it perfectly. What else do you need???

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the best, October 22, 2001
By
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
Beyond a shadow of a doubt this is the best book on the market to use for
the Server+ exam. I used this book for a month to prepare myself for the
Server+ exam and I passed just as the rest of the people who used this book.
I can see how the other authors of the other Server+ books are trying to put
this book down with their bogus reviews If you look
at the other server+ books out there on the market you can tell by
comparing them with this book which one is on target and which ones are not
most of the authors of the other Server+ books are not even Server+
certified (what does that tell you?). The author of the Server+ Bible is
Server+ certified! The Server+ Bible is the best of the best for this exam
by far that is why everyone who uses this book passes!! I did along with the
10,000+ people who
bought this book!
Think about it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Server+ SKO-001 On target, November 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Server+ Certification Bible (Hardcover)
Being a teacher in this field I was very happy to find a Sever+
Certification study guide that was right on target. The other server+ books
I have reviewed did not cover the exam objectives fully or the author was
not clear on what he/she was trying to get across. The Server+ Certification
Bible is totally different from the rest. It is very clear with explaining
each exam objective fully and does not stray like some of the other books
and teach you stuff you do not need to know for the exam. This book does
have it all and is right on target.
