If Only Stanek Could Write...,

When I bought this I was looking forward to an entertaining fantasy novel, but what I found was terrible writing and unoriginal, uninventive plotting. Really, this appears to have been written by a committee of eighth graders. The cast of characters is trite and they're flat as cardboard, the use of language is juvenile and the author doesn't have a clue about the construction of a compelling descriptive passage. Save your money.

Awesome!! Read it!!,
This review is from: In the Service of Dragons (Paperback)
I listened to this book in audio and bought it print too! The beginning totally blew me away! This is an amazing start to the series. In this book, the mighty titans and great eagles have returned from the ancient past to help thwart the darkness. Noman, the mysterious keeper of the City of the Sky, has seen the signs and knows now is the time to act and he sets about gathering those who can stop the darkness. Meanwihle, Prince Valam Alder returns to his beloved southlands. His company has a strange encounter with a trickster named Eldrick. This book is so cool I've listened to it twice in one week!! It is a great book. The time starts flying, flying right from the start. If you like scifi/fantasy like I do you will love this book too. The best book for any Eragon, Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings fan to read!! It's not Tolkien, but it is very good!!

Excellent,

Robert Stanek's "The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches" is like a super great combination of "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars." Robert Stanek's "In the Service of Dragons" is even more amazing. I've never in my life read books where every single one is better than the one before. The story builds and builds, and is undoubtedly the best I have or ever will read in my lifetime. Start with The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches #1 (because you must to understand the story) then read 5-star The Kingdoms and the Elves of the Reaches #2, #3, #4 books, then read the 10-star In the Service of Dragons #1, #2, #3. September can't come soon enough.

AMAZING!!!,
This review is from: In the Service of Dragons (Paperback)
The battle for the Kingdoms and the Reaches begins! This is the best book, everything you would want in a book is right here it is so good at painting a mental picture in your head it will have you yelling out loud throughout this entire book if I could give it more than 5 stars I would!!!! It is perfect for teen and adult Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings fans. It is very realistic. Robert Stanek is a wonderful author who can write exactly what a reader likes.

In the Service of Dragons- An amazing book!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: In the Service of Dragons (Paperback)
In the Service of Dragons is definitely a must read. If you like fantasy at all, you have to try Robert Stanek's book. The plot is awesome, and the many twists and turns are breath taking. The wizards, dragons and magic will amaze you, and the characters will stun you. Once you pick it up, it is hard to stop reading it. In the story, I think that Amir, Valam, Ansh, and Seth are some of the most heroic characters ever. They didn't have to do all that they did. They didn't have to risk their lives for others, but they did. They prove that anyone can do so much if they only try. They show strength, courage, integrity, and determination. If you like fantasy and adventure, you will love this book, too. It is so amazing. Robert Stanek's creative language makes his book even better. He uses many similes and much more creative language in his book. I think that In the Service of Dragons is so original, and everyone should read it. I know that I will definitely read it many more times. So, if you ever want to read a great, amazing book, try In the Service of Dragons by Robert Stanek.

I read The Kingdoms and the Elves a few months ago, and I immediately fell in love with it. I felt compelled to go out and buy it, however, long before that. I heard all of the hype about the series, and everyone around me was reading it, so I bought it last August. My sister read the book before me, actually, and she loved it, so I decided to finally read it after finishing my stint of Rowling's 'Harry Potter' (also an excellent series, by the way). The story is so wonderful, and it's great fun to read. I am currently on book 3 of the Dragon series. The Service of Dragons series is a must-read. Check it out.

This was a wonderful book,
This review is from: In the Service of Dragons (Paperback)
I found the book In the Service of Dragons to be a good read, and a thrilling tale. I was unable to put it down once I started reading it. It deserves to be read along with books like The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Stanek gives incredible depth in a rich history, culture and language. After finishing I simply couldn't wait for the rest of the series.

A fantastic book from beginning to end. Not only is the quality of the book superior, but the author makes every character real and give them each depth. The book itself is a magical story.
