Abby and Friends: P is for Princess (DVD)

Once upon a time on Sesame Street there lived a fairy in training named Abby Cadabby, and she loved going on all kinds of adventures. She loved playing princess with friends like Rosita, but what happens when a misguided Prince (played by actor Paul Rudd) tries to rescue them? Pretending and the Letter P are the focus of two more stories in this enchanting title that also features fun with Natalie Portman and Elmo in "The Princess and The Elephant."

I bought this for my 4 month old daughter as a small intro to Sesame Street. She really enjoys watching it and eating her Abby Cadabby doll. As a mother and feminist, I enjoy it as well. It breaks the mold of your classic princess in distress. The characters utilize great problem solving skills and do not need a prince to rescue them. The prince, played by Paul Rudd (he's not too hard on the eyes;), ends up finding out these princesses are completely capable! In the end, I love how they play princess football! I love the combination of nonstereotypical feminity. A great addition to any infant or toddler's DVD collection!

This is an excellent DVD. I love it because it teaches while girls can be little princesses, they can still do things for themselves. My little girl loves it and I highly recommend it!

My 2 year old daughter LOVES Abby Cadabby, and this was our first DVD that we bought her because she wants to see Abby. We don't let her watch a bunch of TV, but I adore Sesame Street and love how educational it as. I have great childhood memories of sesame street myself. Some of the parts are repackaged from the regular episodes, but my daughter loves it.

My daughter loves all things princess. I do not. I think the princess culture does our daughters more harm than good. I do, however, loooooove all things Sesame Street. So voila! This is the perfect compromise. Cute, fun and educational. What more could I ask for? And the best part! There's a segment that kind of spoofs the whole "damsel in distress" image so common in fairy tales. The girls solve their own problems in spite of a very funny Prince Charming ( Paul Rudd) trying to help. So great!

This is a really cute video. Paul Rudd cracks me up every single time with his "Never fear your Prince is here!" stint. He keeps trying to rescue Abby and her friends every time they have a problem, but they are able to solve everything on their own. Natalie Portman's part also goes against the grain of Princess stories - she doesn't want to dress up as a Princess, she wants to be an elephant. Then an elephant comes along dressed as a Princess and they all have fun. My older kids noticed that the elephant has a boy voice, but he's dressed up as a Princess... Leave it Sesame Street to bend all the rules.

If your child likes Abby Cadabby, then s/he will like this, too. Every story in this is basically how you can dress up as a Princess and still play baseball and stuff like that.

Watched this video with our granddaughter Abby! She's only 8 months old but every time they called the name Abby, she was fascinated! This video has all the characters finding things that begin with the letter "P'. By the end of the video, I was actually calling out "P" words! Short and sweet!

all I can say is I am looking forward to watching my 20 month old enjoy this movie, I see no reason it won't be enjoyed for hours and hours at a time.

This is a nice video, but not appropriate for any girl under 3 or 4. It's all talking, the same set of characters on the screeen, and no singing or dancing. Not stimulating enough for a really young child, who doesn't understand a lot of language. I think my little girl will like it a lot more when she is older, right now it goes right over her head. She loves Abby, but after looking at her and other characters talk in the same environment for about 5 min, my daughter looses interest completely.
