Sesame Street - A Celebration of Me, Grover

My 18-month-old duaghter absolutely loves this video! It was a gift from Gandma overseas and was the only one on VHS that she could find in the store. My daughter likes this video better than the collection of Elmo's World videos we have.

The video is done on a theme of a roast for Grover (or, as they say, a "roost", so as not to offend the chickens attending). All the honored guests at the roast are the Sesame Street regulars like Ernie, Bert, Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie Monster, Elmo and Zoe. They all take turns talking about the qualities they think make Grover special. A classic Grover video clip -- some dating back to the 70s -- follows each speech.

All the classic Grover clips are very funny. My daughter's favorite is of Grover singing a song that demonstrates the meaning of "around", "over", "under", "through", "near", and "far". Grover runs all over the place trying to explain these words physically until, at the end, he finally collapses from exhaustion.

Another great skit is a 70s disco of the ABC song. The set for the scene is straight out of Saturday Night Fever and the lyrics to the song are "Now I know my ABCs, won't you come and boogie with me?"

Every skit will make both child and parent smile. Get this video!

It's about time-we finally get to see a Grover compilation video! Grover has always been our family's favorite, and this video provides a nice sample of his popular characters-Super Grover, waiter, delivery man, etc... My daughter flips over him every time, and thoroughly enjoys this video. To the other reviewers who wish there was a celebration video of the other characters, they DO have them available, called "Best of" Elmo, Bert and Ernie, Big Bird, you get the idea. The original songs of the other muppets celebrating Grover do make this one a little extra special, we just love it.

My 18 month old loves this movie! The different clips of Grover are great(there are clips from the 70's, 80's and 90's) and the songs are fun to watch over and over. Big Bird is the host and all the Sesame Street characters are at a banquet to celebrate Grover being special. They all share memories about Grover and what they like about him. We even get to see the blue guy Grover was always a waiter to. (Of course, that was my favorite part!)I would recommend this movie to all my friends.

Like Gonzo, Cookie Monster and Herry, Grover is a lovable, furry blue monster. Everybody likes him except Fat Blue, the man who Grover always sells stuff to. It shows all the great things Grover has done and all the things he did as Super Grover. I like the fact that Kermit was in this. They ARE best friends. The Best of Grover is a great video!

There was too much new (bad) content and very little classic Grover on this disc. I really was annoyed at Elmo being in too much of it.

My daughter loves this DVD. She loves Grover, so it was an obvious buy in the frist place. I really like it because it made up of mostly 99.9% muppets with very few people in it (which she really doesn't care for). It really holds her attention a lot better than some of the others which have more people in it. She is always asking to watch Grover. Money very well spent!

I was so happy to find this dvd. My 2-year-old daughter has been fascinated with Grover for several months. Funny thing, it all started with her love of Yoda. One day we were watching Sesame Street and she perked up, running to kiss Grover on the tv, calling him Yoda. She recognized the voice, so since then I have searched for a Grover dvd. I finally found this one and it is so nice. Very cute, very sweet, classic Grover! Yea!

So my 2 year old little girl loves loves loves grover- so this was a no brainer- it is one of the only things we let her watch and it is also something she wants to watch almost every day- sometimes repeatedly if we let her.



I have to say that there are several wonderful things here:

- around around over under through- we like to do that too!

- lena horne is wonderful

- the other skits are great too- super grover, disco grover, etc.



The things I don't like:

- I wish there were more skits and less of the flyers club roost stuff

- everytime you start it up, there is no way to bypass the really long advertisement for sesame street workshop- i paid for this video, I shouldn't have to watch ads if I don't want to!



Final word: There is enough here for any grover afficionado- for any little grover fan out there it is a must have.

With the awesome reviews everyone else had for this DVD, I knew I had to get it for my 2 year old twins. Let me say, everyone else was right! It was a fantastic DVD. I wish there were tribute DVD for all of the Sesame Street Muppets.

My son and I watch this everyday together and it never gets old. Grover is one of the best characters from Sesame Street and this DVD proves so. My mom watched it with us one day and she was cracking up at the classic Grover clips. Very memorable and I'm so happy to have the cutest, furry, blue monster on DVD for years to come. He will never go out of style!
