I watched this movie as a child every year with my siblings in the 80's. I recently found out it was now on DVD, and ordered it immediately!

I have to admit, there are times when I watch things as I enjoyed as a child, and I question how I liked whatever it was. This is not the case with Christmas Eve on Sesame Street. Who doesn't appreciate the fact that Bert and Ernie would sell their ducky and paperclips to buy gifts for eachother?

This is a movie that I will enjoy for many years to come. I cannot wait to have children of my own to share it with.

When I was young, this wonderful Christmas special was played every year on TV on Christmas Eve day. However, the past two years it was replaced with various specials featuring "hipper" animated characters, and I couldn't find it. I was shocked to even learn it was still being sold, and very excited!
If you or your children have ever watched Sesame Street, this video is a MUST OWN. Although it doesn't feature the newer characters, there is plenty of Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Oscar, Cookie Monster, and of course all the people in the cast that I was familiar with as a young child. This video makes me laugh to this day! It features a variety of charming and funny scenes, and keeps you involved from the very beginning when the whole Sesame Street gang goes ice skating.
This video, although great for kids, will make you laugh along with them as you watch it!

I had been trying to locate a copy of this movie that I grew up with for years and it was out of print. I think the CTW finally wised up and realized how many people would buy it.
You, your child, and anyone you show it to will love it!
You will remember that heartfelt song - Keep Christmas With You, and it will bring tears to your eyes!!!

Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is an enjoyable Christmas story for the whole family. When Oscar asks Big Bird "How does Santa fit down those tiny little chimney's?" Big Bird becomes desperate for the answer. He sets off to question all the children he can find and gathers some very interesting and humorous opinions. With Christmas Eve drawing close, Big Bird fears that if Santa can't fit down the chimney he won't be able to leave any presents. What Big Bird learns is that you don't always have to know how things work, just that they do work. I recommend this video to any and all children that celebrate Christmas.

This is probably the best Sesame Street video out there. This Christmas special from 1978 features the classic cast of the show (including Mr. Hooper). The storyline involves Big Bird trying to figure out how Santa Claus is able to get down every chimney in one night. Also included is a touching story dealing with how far Bert and Ernie will go to get each other something for Christmas. So, if you want a good holiday treat, or are just into nostalgia, this is THE Sesame Street video for you! END

I have been watching "Christmas Eve on Sesame Street" ever since my parents taped this for me and my sisters sometime in the 1980's (although I'm not sure exactly when). I'm glad I found this DVD, because the video copy I have has definitely seen better days!

This program was made in the 1970's, but I don't feel as though it's dated. Kudos for releasing it just the way it was, and not making an updated version of this.

***WARNING: FOLLOWING MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

The story starts out at a skating party, where Oscar the Grouch asks that fateful question: "How does Santa Claus get down all those skinny little chimneys?" Big Bird and his friend, Patty, have to find out right away! So Kermit the Frog and Grover ask some kids how they think Santa does it (some of the kids responses are really interesting).

Another storyline is a classic take of the O. Henry story, "Gift of the Magi" where Bert and Ernie are trying to think of what to give each other for Christmas. Neither of them have any money so they each trade their most prized possessions to Mr. Hooper to get each other a present.

One of my absolute favorite parts of this whole special is Cookie Monster writing a letter to Santa. Or at least trying to. I won't go into great detail about this one, you and your kids just HAVE to see it for yourselves!

***END OF OVERVIEW***

Anyway, this has always been one of my favorite Christmas programs, and I think it's great for kids of any age.

This is one of the few dvds I own of Sesame Street and the other one that I own of Sesame Street is Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird. Sesame Street has been on the air since the late 60's (and I think this is now the only longest show ever). Christmas Eve on Sesame Street starts in a christmas skating party in a skating rink near Sesame Street. And things are going good, Ernie nad friends play hockey with Bert's shoe as the hockey puck plus the friends are alos busy having a great time on the ice. Until Oscar is thrown all the way out the door down the stairs and out of out of the bulding. Big Bird and a kid goe to Oscar and he pops a question to Big Bird. His question is how does Santa Clause get down the skinny chimneys and also tels Big Bird that if Santa can't that there will be no Christmas presents under the tree. Plus if you don't think that is enough to have some fun every Christmas, this special has songs to listen to (even sing-along if you want). The songs are Feliz Navidad, A True Blue Miracle, Keep Christmas With You (All Though The Year), I Hate Christmas, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. The best song in here (in my opinion) is Keep Christmas With You (All Though The Year). The only recored song in this special is Feliz Navidad and the rest are sung by the residents of Sesame Strett from Bert and Erine to Oscar. The song Bert and Erine sing is Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.
