5.0 out of 5 stars Great Birthday Gift
My one year old son got this as a gift for his birthday. He loves it and hasn't stopped playing with it since we took it out of the box. I had to put up the rocks because I was afraid he would get them caught in his mouth, however he hardly noticed that they were gone. He likes the simple movements of the plow(up & down), the dumptruck empties, and the crane moves up and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Do toys HAVE to do something to be fun?
Okay, so these little cars don't go beep-beep, have lights that flash, drive by themselves, or have incredibly strong magnets that keep the accessories firmly attached to them. I actually find this a welcome relief from all the overly stimulating toys that are on the market nowadays. Think back to when we were kids... did we have a lot of toys that "did" things? No, not...

I actually find this a welcome relief from all the overly stimulating toys that are on the market nowadays. Think back to when we were kids... did we have a lot of toys that "did" things? No, not really. We had toys that we PLAYED with...that stimulated our own imaginations. I love watching my son and daughter play with "boring" toys... it's amazing the things they can come up with! I'd much rather have a "boring" toy for my kids than one that just simply makes a lot of noise and puts on a little light show.

3.0 out of 5 stars a nice toy for a toddler, January 12, 2003

I agree with the former writer, this toy does not do alot.
it *is* magnetic, though - but the magnets are not very strong.
I think it is a nice toy for kids under the age of 2, they can move the cars around, lift and lower parts of the cars, a simple play.

Also this set is a big hit with his older brother who is 2&1/2.

Our son was excited to get this toy. The only problem is that the toy doesn't do anything. It appears that it is made to be magnetic, so that the boulders stick to the construction equipment. However, this is not the case. The boulders fall off of the trucks and serve no purpose. Would be a lot more fun if they could stick to the trucks.

i found this set to be well made for a 2 year old except the crane with the string attached; i have twins and this piece made more for a weapon to hit the other with and the crane switch difficult for a two year old to do so i put it away until they are older.

I plan to give these to my son for this coming Christmas, at which point he will be 19 months old. I'm sure that he will love them! They're really cute & the price was definitely right! I can't attest to the durability of the toy, as it's still in the box, but it looks sturdy enough & well made.
