Like many of the reviews have said, the puppet is difficult to control. Way back in the day, I had a better version of the puppet as a small kid. The arms were controlled by strings on the outside that you could pull down and they would spring back up when you let go. Best of all, the mouth was wider and had a hole. I spent hours making the puppet eat things just like he did on TV. This is maybe sturdier than my old puppet, but way less fun too.

I'm not leaving a long review - but I'll say this. Holy cow - my kid freaking LOVES this thing. She loves the Einstein puppets but the one I got was pretty dissapointing...now, It's Cookie Monster all the way ... she is in hysterics when we bring him out. 9-month old.

Yes, the mouth is difficult to operate if you use the arms (with your fingers inside - pretty cool, really) but who cares...the kid loves it.

The puppet is of moderate to high quality and is cute, but is somewhat difficult for a large adult hand to manuever, the opening to move the mouth is very small.

We bought this as a Christmas gift for my 10 month old son. The fur is soft and bright and he likes to look at the puppet, but nether I nor my husband can use this puppet as intended. It is very poorly designed and doesn't work for either large or small hands. There is no way to comfortably have fingers move (or even be inside) his mouth and arms at the same time. You have to pick which one you want to move and then switch your fingers around if you want to move the other. Plus, the mouth is so rigid, it is impossible to make him talk for more than 10 seconds without getting a hand cramp. Cute, but useless as a puppet. He is now just a an (un)stuffed animal laying limply around the house; VERY disappointing...

Ok, our 3-month-old infant LOVES visits from Cookie Monster. In fact, we can play for 40-60 minutes. She loves to give Cookie hugs as he waxes on about how cookies are delicious with milk but are sometimes-food. Sure she doesn't understand what he's saying, but Cookie is smaller than her (and non-threatening), very animated (like I said-gives great hugs), and super soft. She laughs and speaks to him as if they were best friends.

I have to agree with some of the reviews in that I can't actually articulate his mouth very well. Short of adding arm rod controls or sacrificing moving arms, I'm not sure you can. But it's all about attitude. You have to feel your inner Cookie Monster, make the monster voice, and talk up a storm. Kids I think will forgive the fact that his lips don't move.

I got this puppet as a gift over seven years ago. Since then it has been used as a tug-of-war rope between my kids, as a chew toy for my baby when she went through her mouthing/gumming stage, as a tool for imaginative and creaive play for my toddlers, and as a substitute for that deep-voiced basketball player with the great "not in my house" commercial (the kids love doing the voice with cookie on their hand).
The puppet has provided years of laughs with little-to-no wear and tear. In an age of disposable everything - cutlery, plates, cups, napkins, clothing - it's nice to have a toy that doesn't need batteries, has no apps to install, is fun fo rmommy, daddy and kids alike, and really withstands the test of time.

We bought this as a joke for our 12 year old as we recently watched an episode of Cake Boss with the Sesame Street anniversary being featured. We wanted to surprise him with Cookie coming up behind him with his mouth wide open. Well, good luck with opening Cookie's mouth - you'll end up with severe muscle strain. We monkeyed with Cookie's head, opening the mouth from the outside time and again, to no avail.
This is a well made stuffed animal toy but going beyond putting your hand in it to move it back and forth is next to impossible.

I sent this hand puppet to my grandson for his 3rd birthday, and his mother reports that he loves it. He is having fun speaking through the puppet, although he is a little too young to really understand. The cookie monster is one of his favorite characters and he has been carrying the puppet around the house. I can't attest to the durability of the product as yet, but I do know he is having a lot of fun, as are his mom and dad.
