CUTE...BUT LOOKS LIKE A RAFT!,
By Mommy of 2 girls (Fresno, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sesame Street - Elmo Inflatable Bed (Toy)
This is a very cute bed, however, it is more like a large raft. We bought this for our 3 yr old when we went on vacation for a week (her 5 yr old sister has the princess bed) and it was more of a hassle then a convenience. It is not sturdy at all (but much sturdier than the princess bed). She loved it, only because it was Elmo....but I actually felt bad for her having to sleep on this. Next time we will go with a REAL Aero bed (for both girls), at least they will be off the ground.

Great if you have a portable air compressor...,

This is a great overnight bed for Grandma and Grandpa's house. My son is 2 years old and absolutely LOVES his Elmo bed (well, to be honest, he LOVES all things Elmo). It said it took sheets but it will not work with a fitted sheet. We just put a blanket down in the bottom and then my son has a blanket over him.
This bed comes with a very archaeic foot pump to inflate. The first time we tried this we had not taken our air compressor and it took me 45 minutes to inflate. The next time we had the portable air compressor and it went up in about 5 minutes. It takes a little to deflate it also. We took the long route the first time by pinching open the valves (they are protected valves so you have to pinch them to take air out). The second time we took the nozzle from the foot pump, pushed it into the valve for inflation and viola.....we were then able to lay on the bed oursleves and deflate. You can never get all the air out either so we purchased a small plastic bin with a lid for storage. Over all a very good investment though.

I bought this bed for my 2 year old to take with us when traveling. We have not actually traveled yet, but once we got it we inflated it to see how he reacted to it. First of all if using the manual foot pump, I cannot imagine how long it would take to inflate all of the pieces! We have an electric pump and it still took a good 15 minutes. When we put it in front of our son his face lit up at the site of Elmo. He immediately got on to the bed and then, while very cute, he started jumping on it proclaiming "Bounce, Bounce, Bounce". We let him have his fun for a few minutes then explained it was for sleeping. He immediately laid down (after retrieving his faithful bear) and pretended to snore! He didn't bounce on it again, but we have yet to have him sleep on it for a whole night!
Overall I think it is a great bed for traveling. The only two cons that I have is the time it takes to inflate and also the time it takes to deflate! We stuck drinking straws in the valves to keep them open (to allow the air to escape) and after 7 DAYS it was still not completely deflated! This may be a problem if you need to deflate it and pack it up to travel!
