Great paints!,
By A Customer
The paints are wonderful in the tub. I gave my 2 year old paint brushes and let him go at it. The primary colors mix well and we use it as a great way to play and learn colors during bath time. I'm not sure if the soap crayons are included in the order, but I was not impressed with them. They didn't work well and were frustrating for my two year old. But the bubble bath paints smell nice and were so easy to clean up after bath time was done.

Sesame Street Finger Paint Bubble Bath,

This review is from: Sesame Street Finger Paint Fun Soap (Red/Yellow/Blue) (Toy)
I was looking for something that would entertain my 2-year-old grandson in the tub. Since this is described as finger paint, I thought it would be lots of fun to finger paint on the sides of the tub with. However, I found it was very short-lasting when used with water in the tub. The paint does not really stick to the sides of the tub or the tile wall, and the yellow does not show up too well. So, I squeezed out a cookie sized glob of each color in the tub BEFORE the water was put in. I then put my grandson in the tub and he could smear the paint around the tub with his hands, feet, tummy, and bum. He liked rubbing it and sliding around on it (don't leave unattended--slippery!) He would try and make hand prints on the sides of the tub, but the paint does not show up too well--the red shows up best. I would draw happy faces and other designs in the smeared paint which he would rub away. I also want to add that this product has a wonderful berry/cotton candy type smell which is delectable (and some children may want to taste!)
As he gets older, I would expect he will do his own drawing and painting. The paints do mix together to make other colors, BUT not too well. The hues are subdued. I would have liked to have a bold green, but you are not going to get that with mixing these paints. Also, to get more color, you need MORE paint which results in too much soap. My grandson also enjoys having me squirt the paint all over his tummy, arms, and legs to make designs. This is much fun for me! After my son loses interest in "painting" I fill the tub with water which makes lots of bubbles, which are fun to play with. When it comes to cleanup, the paints readily dissolve and disappear leaving no stains on the tile or tub. I have been satisfied with my purchase as it has provided much entertainment, bubbles, and cleanliness at bath time. But as a true finger paint that allows you to really make pictures and prints in the tub, it lacks.

Rashes and UTI's,
By Plast Gresham, CO (Colorado) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sesame Street Finger Paint Fun Soap (Red/Yellow/Blue) (Toy)
I wanted to bring to your attention a problem with the "Sesame Street Finger Paint Fun Soap". Both of my daughters have experienced significant irritation from this product. My older daughter got Urinary Tract infections both times we let her play with the finger paint soaps in the bath. She was only in the bath for about 20 minutes and this would not be considered, "Prolonged". After those UTI's, we removed the bath paints to the garage for use in the water table where my girls would not have exposure to their bodies.
Yesterday they played with the paints in the water table with their hands and arms and shortly afterwards my younger daughter developed a red itchy rash along her arms and chest where the paint-water had run down her body. I am not sure what types of ingredients would cause this type of reactions, but for children's products that will be coming into contact with very sensitive areas, they should be using hypoallergenic and/or all natural ingredients. Sesame Street is a brand that we grew up with and continue to look to for educational and safe products, but after this experience, my loyalty is significantly reduced.

My boys love them,
By FabulousTerrah "*Terrah*" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews Favorite things to do with them: * likes to mix them to make purple, green, and orange * make shapes with their fingers on the walls * finger paint on themselves two thumbs up... little dissapointed to see the other reviews rating it so low.

Gross gooey "paint" my daughter loves,

My daughter is 2 and loves these paints. As other reviewers have noted, they dont really stick as paint (we have a plastic tub) and they don't show up too bright on the walls. But they are gooey and can be mixed in her hand and make a "mess" in her tub, which she likes. It cleans easily since its a soap. Overall they are fun, just realize they arent going to be like having real paint.

Not good for sensitive skin,

These bath paints are cool, but get ready for a thick and soapy residue when trying to rinse off the tub and your kids. My son likes the effect, but my daughter's skin gets rough and bumpy when we use it with her. I wouldn't buy these again, but did use them completely.

My children do not have overly sensitive skin, but when we used these paints they ended up with a horrible splotchy rash all over thier bodies. Because of that they were thrown away. The idea was great but the containers are too hard for kids to squeeze.

Although my daughter likes these and asks for them at every bath, I'm not overly thrilled with these finger 'paints' for a few reasons:
1) they made my daughter break out in a very mild rash anyplace that the paints touched her body - I noticed this a few times on her belly, but the rash disappeared within 5 minutes of rinsing off thoroughly and stepping out of the tub so I wasn't TOO concerned about it, as I know she has sensitive skin and is prone to breaking out with things like these 2) the paints are more like a gel then a paint, which makes them hard to use like a paint, and when you're using wet fingers or utensils to apply the gel it simply slides off of tub and tiles They do encourage some creativity though - my daughter likes to mix the colors to make new colors. When these are gone I think I will invest in some REAL finger paints for her to play with outside of the tub. |
