This looked pretty neat online. My daughter has loved books since she was 1 and is now 2. I thought this would be fun and interactive for her. However, the books do not lock in--she likes to turn the pages herself and when she tries she just pulls the book right out every time. Kind of defeats the purpose of the buttons and the device reading the story to you. Also, I have not found a way to shut the store demo off, so if the case is closed and she pushes the buttons, instead of telling her the shape or color it rambles through the whole demo of some lady telling you about the My First Story Reader. It gets very annoying after hearing it so many times a day...

Sturdy, my 15 months age daughter had dropped it so many times and it still in the good condition. If it ever comes a part ......you just snap it back together. Same with the books, if you snap the book in proper place it stays there. toddler and preschoolers love turing pages and listening to the story, interactive mode (button) makes sound and ask question.
really fun even my four years old son loves it too. he still plays with it. Listen to story and answers questions. Mine came with three books Sesame Street ones. Also you can purchase baby einstein and winne the pooh books. Each sold as a set of three.

We bought this toy for my one-year-old son just to have something more than clothes to give him for Christmas. I think this toy is useless for the following reasons:YOU can read to your child and don't need a book to do it. They like YOUR interaction and will likely not pick it up on their own except to play with the buttons. The book keeps falling apart. The hinges snap back together very easily, but it falls back apart that easily again. Positives: I would only think this toy useful if you are a bilingual parent who would like yourself and your kid to have some exposure to English. The types of language presented in the books are pretty good: rhyme, alliteration, early-developing sounds and song. Also the the children tend to like the themes like gardening and pretend. If you are not good at picking out good children's literature, this may lead you in the right direction. Instead of getting this, go get a library card, look up well-loved books for early readers and enjoy interacting with your child. K. Thomsen, Speech-Language Pathologist

The book doesn't recognize the correct pages and constantly says "please insert a book" when there's one in there already.
