Content is OK but the inability to interact with ANYTHING while animation and introductions are being played make this product a failure. A child will have to learn patience to use this software as it will require sitting through repeated/boring introductions before being able to play or interact.
If you are interested in a game for a toddler (~2-3 yrs old), try Dr. Seuss's ABC. It's the perfect example of how to design GREAT software for kids.

Nice idea, very poorly done,

I bought this software for my 4 yr old son. He was mildly amused and some parts of it were fun, but he also encountered some frustrating problems with the software. The game runs full-screen, but with a big black border around it, and the mouse cursor frequently gets lost (hidden) in the black border so you can't find it. Also, the mouse disappears whenever any animation or audio playback is occurring. These issues make using the software very cumbersome, especially for kids.
I do not recommend this software, unless you really can't find anything better.

I received and installed this and Sesame Street First Steps on the the kid's computer a few days ago and my son doesn't want to stop playing with either of them. They both have lots of fun activities and both are helping him with his mouse skills. I highly recommend.

IMO, Sesame Street is pushing it suggesting this product for a 3 or 4 year old. My 3 year old wants to interact more with a game and would rather use one of her equivelant jumpstart or reader rabbit products any day of the week. Lacks challenge and is too passive for my kid. She may have liked it when she was being introduced to computers. I do not like that fact that I cannot exit the game until all the credits have run and the child gets little practise with the cursor/mouse.

It's okay, but annoying!,
This review is from: Sesame Street Learn, Play & Grow [Old Version] (CD-ROM)
My daughter (2 yrs old) likes playing this game, but like the other reviewers, I find it cumbersome. You can't move the cursor while the characters are talking & navigating through the different options is highly annoying. My daughter always wants to play just with Elmo or just with Cookie... and it can sometimes take several minutes to navigate to one of the exercises that they're leading. Additionally, it seems that the series of different activites plays in the same order. Several of the answers are always in the same position.

Nice, simple program for preschoolers,

I recently started using this in my classroom of young preschoolers. Thanks to the teacher before me who never even attempted to let the kids use the computer and the tedious process of getting one that's more up to date, we haven't had fully functional computer in our class for as long as I've been there (almost 3 years now). Needless to say, the kids were more than excited to use the computer at all. Time will tell if they still enjoy it as much after repeated playing, but for early computer users it's an engaging and fun way to work on letters, numbers, colors, etc. The premise of each "game" is basically the same--children are presented with a set of choices and asked to choose the one described or are given the name/sound of an object when moused over or clicked. So I would imagine it could get a little boring for children at the higher end of the age range (4 years), especially those who already have some basic computer skills. There's nothing you necessarily have to "complete", though like some programs for older preschoolers. You can move on to a new activity at any time, so that's a positive for short attention spans.
I do have to echo what others have said about not being able to do anything while animations are playing. The cursor basically disappears until it's done. It seems simple, but there should really be an option to click through it if you want. Once or twice it's not a big deal but after several rounds, it's just plain annoying. We do the computer in groups of 3 or 4 while a teacher helps, so it wasn't much of a problem for us, but I can imagine this would be frustrating for a child who's trying to do it themselves (it was frustrating enough for me!). What I do like though is that when children are making selections, they don't have to click right on the object to select it. Getting it in the general area still allows you to click and select something, which is nice for little ones with shaky mouse skills. Overall, it's a nice starting program to introduce your preschooler to using a mouse and working on basic skills in a fun way. I was actually given this to borrow by the teacher next door to me(although once you install it, you don't need the disk to use it) and while I would probably buy it if this wasn't the case, I don't know if I'd be willing to spend $20 on it.

well you might want to have a set of headphones for this game, it is annoying.
there isn't as much as i would have liked to do but what you can expect from a toddler game? it's rather limited but educational and fun. over all i picked up a couple good new tunes to hum to my baby. hes about 18 months and doesn't quiet understand how to navigate the mouse but i know in a few months he'll get it and pick up on it in the mean time we it does help us bond while i try to teach him how to play. save yourself some money and buy this used it's not worth full price. i have purchased more games so we have more variety to play from when he gets bored from one.

The old Sesame Street series was much better than this. These are very simple games with little content. The sound quality isn't very good either...when you click on the fire truck the game says "Fire Eng...." so of course my toddler says "Fire Eng!" It's just silly that I have to correct him each time. This is a learning game afterall! I'm definitely shopping for other brands. My son seems to like it but I know better.

I bought this for my two and a half year old for christmas because he loves Elmo. The graphics aren't great, but most two year olds don't really mind. He loves the game and is learning from it, so I'm happy with it.

I bought this for my nearly 4 year old. A lot of it is too simple for her, but it's been good mouse practice and she has enjoyed it and gotten some good number and letter review. It has occasional glitches, but restarting it is easy enough.
