Editorial Reviews

Come hear the call of the wild as Big Bird leads a musical menagerie in some of the funniest and silliest songs ever. You'll want to sing, hoot, and howl along with these twelve terrific tunes by animals, for animals, and about animals. There's Ernie's immortal "Insects in your Neighborhood," the timeless "Cluck Around the Clock," and many, many more. The beastly beat goes on and on with this kooky collection of hits!

5.0 out of 5 stars 100 viewings and still fun for us all. November 28, 1999
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Sing Hoot and Howl is a delightful collection of classic and new Sesame Street animal songs. There is a wide variety of musical styles including latin and early rock that captivated our seven month old from the first viewing. Now, he starts dancing at the mere mention of songs on this video. The best bit is that we love this video still after months of seeing it almost every day.
The songs include "Cow Dog Song" about a cattle dog, Baa Baa Bamba which is a variation of La Bamba, "Kids" which shows all sorts of animal babies and "Cluck around the Clock".
We like this video so much that we are thinking of giving it to all our under five friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my toddler's favorite video July 30, 2001
Format:VHS Tape
My son has been watching this video since he was around 6 months old, and still loves it (he's now 15 months old). He watches it almost every day, and never seems to get tired of it. As soon as we put it in, and Old MacDonald comes on, he starts bouncing up and down and making excited noises. The songs are very catchy, the length is perfect (30 minutes, just enough time to make dinner), and it's educational. My son is learning all about the different sounds that animals make. Somehow, our tape got ruined, so we are buying a new one. We can't live without it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not our favorite Sesame Street video March 3, 2002
Format:VHS Tape
Okay, usually I rate the S.S. videos high, but we bought this video last week and my daughter has watched it only a handful of times. Hosted by Big Bird and a barn full of animals, there are several songs that you will know. "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "We are all Earthlings" are two that we knew right away. Some of the clips are really old and didn't hold my daughter's attention (or mine, for that matter). She walks out of the room five minutes after this video comes on...every time! I can't say that I think much of it either, as I usually pray for this video to be over with. A better choice would be one of the Elmo's world videos, Sing Along, or Let's Make Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Sesame Street animal numbers June 14, 2002
Format:VHS Tape
This is my very, very favorite Sesame Street video, because it contains the clips I love best; the live-animal clips with goofy songs like "I'm a working dog," "I'm an aardvark," "Which came first, the chicken or the egg," and "I love being a pig." It also includes muppet classics like "We are all earthlings," and, my personal favorite, "Baa Baa Bamba." It's a half hour of shoe-tapping, hand-clapping fun - my toddler and I both love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF OUR FAVORITES!! December 27, 2006
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
My son has watched this dvd since he was a few months old. It has some of the oldy, but goldy songs from sesame street past. The songs and images are great because they use a variety of real images in daily life as well as the animals and big bird. My husband even commends this dvd as the songs are the kind that you just want to hum. GREAT PURCHASE!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Two Year Old's Obsession November 17, 2001
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
I knew it was possible, even likely, that my darling child would get fixated on something during her toddler years. It could be worse; the fact that she has chosen this delightful video to obsess about isn't that bad! Hosted by Big Bird, the video features all sorts of farm and zoo and household Muppet animals introducing and singing songs about--what else?--animals. An added bonus is the appearance of Ernie singing "Who are the Insects in Your Neighborhood?"...Ernie being, of course, the coolest muppet ever. Our daughter asks for this video several tiems a day and it really is charming.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great dvd - lots of muppet animals - fun songs January 13, 2005
Format:DVD
My 4 1/2 month old son loves this dvd, and it's pretty entertaining for parents too. Great, fun songs and lots of silly muppet animals. My only complaint is that the dvd has an "ad" for sesame street at the beginning which you cannot skip or fast forward over, so you have to watch it every single time and wait for it to finish before you can even set the rest of the dvd to play. Also, the song/chapter selection only shows you the first half of the dvd unless you fast forward to the middle and then look at it again. Overall, though, a very nice dvd and I recommend it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Video -- especially the live footage September 11, 2001
Format:VHS Tape|Verified Purchase
Besides the great songs on this video, the segments with real animals have been fantastic at helping our 2 yr old identify animals. It also provides a jumping off point to talk about animal sounds as well. Bascially our 2 year old has responded with rapt attention and interest to all of the video segments and is pointing out elements to us. "Pig", "Bee", "Starfish"!
In the "I Love Being a Pig" song, substitue "Kid" for "Pig" and parents can enjoy the song as much as the kids ;->
