3.0 out of 5 stars Not our favorite Sesame Street video
Okay, usually I rate the S.S. videos high, but we bought this video last week and my daughter has watched it only a handful of times. Hosted by Big Bird and a barn full of animals, there are several songs that you will know. "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "We are all Earthlings" are two that we knew right away. Sing Hoot and Howl is a delightful collection of classic and new Sesame Street animal songs. There is a wide variety of musical styles including latin and early rock that captivated our seven month old from the first viewing. Now, he starts dancing at the mere mention of songs on this video. The best bit is that we love this video still after months of seeing it almost every day.

The songs include "Cow Dog Song" about a cattle dog, Baa Baa Bamba which is a variation of La Bamba, "Kids" which shows all sorts of animal babies and "Cluck around the Clock".

We like this video so much that we are thinking of giving it to all our under five friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is my toddler's favorite video, July 30, 2001

My son has been watching this video since he was around 6 months old, and still loves it (he's now 15 months old). He watches it almost every day, and never seems to get tired of it. As soon as we put it in, and Old MacDonald comes on, he starts bouncing up and down and making excited noises. The songs are very catchy, the length is perfect (30 minutes, just enough time to make dinner), and it's educational. My son is learning all about the different sounds that animals make. Somehow, our tape got ruined, so we are buying a new one. We can't live without it!

Hosted by Big Bird and a barn full of animals, there are several songs that you will know. "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" and "We are all Earthlings" are two that we knew right away. Some of the clips are really old and didn't hold my daughter's attention (or mine, for that matter). She walks out of the room five minutes after this video comes on...every time! I can't say that I think much of it either, as I usually pray for this video to be over with. A better choice would be one of the Elmo's world videos, Sing Along, or Let's Make Music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Real Sesame Street animal numbers, June 15, 2002

This is my very, very favorite Sesame Street video, because it contains the clips I love best; the live-animal clips with goofy songs like "I'm a working dog," "I'm an aardvark," "Which came first, the chicken or the egg," and "I love being a pig." It also includes muppet classics like "We are all earthlings," and, my personal favorite, "Baa Baa Bamba." It's a half hour of shoe-tapping, hand-clapping fun - my toddler and I both love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Two Year Old's Obsession, November 18, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Sesame Street - Sing, Hoot & Howl with the Sesame Street Animals [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I knew it was possible, even likely, that my darling child would get fixated on something during her toddler years. It could be worse; the fact that she has chosen this delightful video to obsess about isn't that bad! Hosted by Big Bird, the video features all sorts of farm and zoo and household Muppet animals introducing and singing songs about--what else?--animals. An added bonus is the appearance of Ernie singing "Who are the Insects in Your Neighborhood?"...Ernie being, of course, the coolest muppet ever. Our daughter asks for this video several tiems a day and it really is charming.

5.0 out of 5 stars favorite, September 30, 2005
This review is from: Sesame Street - Sing, Hoot & Howl with the Sesame Street Animals [VHS] (VHS Tape)
this was the first sesame street video i bought for my 18month old, and she is totally in love with it. her favorite is "who are the insects in your neighborhood" and she now buzzes like a bee every time she sees one. she's never been into the "new" sesame street, so for those who like classic skits/videos, this video has it. and the short length of time of the video is perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great video..., November 5, 2002

Especially if you love 'Gladys The Cow' (one of my favourite muppets). She was hilarious on this video. The problem was that there weren't enough Muppet songs. there was some, but the others just showed real animals. they could have shown some more Gladys songs or maybe even some songs Kermit The Frog or that Animal Orchestra featuring Placido Flamingo and Seiji Ozawa

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Video -- especially the live footage, September 11, 2001

Besides the great songs on this video, the segments with real animals have been fantastic at helping our 2 yr old identify animals. It also provides a jumping off point to talk about animal sounds as well. Bascially our 2 year old has responded with rapt attention and interest to all of the video segments and is pointing out elements to us. "Pig", "Bee", "Starfish"!
In the "I Love Being a Pig" song, substitue "Kid" for "Pig" and parents can enjoy the song as much as the kids ;->

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs/Troubling Images, January 1, 2007
By

This review is from: Sesame Street - Sing, Hoot & Howl with the Sesame Street Animals [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My toddler and I love the songs on this tape. But, I am troubled by some of the images. There are aardvarks in a small pen and chickens laying eggs on conveyer belt in some sort of factory farm. I realize that the tape is 15 years old, but other tapes of the same era have better images.

So, we switched to Sing Yourself Silly and Kids Favorite Songs. My daughter likes them just as well, but with better images.
