My son has watched this dvd since he was a few months old. It has some of the oldy, but goldy songs from sesame street past. The songs and images are great because they use a variety of real images in daily life as well as the animals and big bird. My husband even commends this dvd as the songs are the kind that you just want to hum. GREAT PURCHASE!

My 4 1/2 month old son loves this dvd, and it's pretty entertaining for parents too. Great, fun songs and lots of silly muppet animals. My only complaint is that the dvd has an "ad" for sesame street at the beginning which you cannot skip or fast forward over, so you have to watch it every single time and wait for it to finish before you can even set the rest of the dvd to play. Also, the song/chapter selection only shows you the first half of the dvd unless you fast forward to the middle and then look at it again. Overall, though, a very nice dvd and I recommend it!

The little one I care for had this dvd and I fell in love with it, so much so I bought one for myself and several to give as gifts. The dvd consists of many old routines and it is so much fun trying to remember the name of the performers. Some come right to mind but some have changed quite a bit so it takes a sec or two to recognize them. The songs are catchy and you just may find yourself humming them later on. OH! My little one liked it, too!!

It might be because my oldest daughter loved this video in the late 1990's that I never noticed the bad quality of some of the videos on this dvd. Some of them are very old and my toddler (my now 3-yr-old) would lose interest for most of it. My oldest daughter loved it, though, around the same age, but she loved Sesame Street. My son isn't too much into SS.
I think whether a child likes this dvd depends a lot on the child. I still love the MOO-MOO MAMBA song, though!!! : )

I got this DVD when my son was around 1.5 years It was a great way for him to learn about animals. We had fun as a family watching the DVD. He is now 3 and still asks to see it every now & then.

We have watched Sing, Hoot and Howl so many times on VHS that we're buying it on dvd. All four of our boys have loved it. My husband and I enjoy it also as we remember lots of the clips from when we were little!

Sing, Hoot and Howl is classic Sesame Street, educational and enjoyable. I remembered all the songs fondly from my childhood and I think it's still entertaining for kids today. Big Bird and friends meet together to sing their favorite animal songs. As a Sesame Street fan from way back, I remember not only listening to these songs, but learning from them. I learned about the kinds of jobs dogs can do and what animal babies are called ("Cows have calves and I bet you didn't know that elephants have calves too.") This show also encourages pride in one's self ("Proud to be a cow") and getting along with each other despite differences ("We Are All Earthlings.") It's great that these Sesame Street DVDs are being reissued now. I definitely recommend "Sing, Hoot and Howl" for kids and their parents to make Muppet Memories together.

I bought this DVD for "I'm a Hard-Working Dog", "I Love Being a Pig", and "Which Comes First (The Chicken or The Egg)", along with the grainy '70's video that I remember so fondly from childhood. As with the other Sesame Street videos, I wish they would just let those old clips stand on their own instead of feeling the need to pad them with some contrived Muppet scenario (this time it is a meeting of the "Sing, Hoot and Howl club". However, my 4 1/2 year old enjoys the DVD as a whole anyway.

Not as good as I had hoped,

So far, my 1 year old hasn't been able to sit throught this one. The Sesame Street part is fine. She likes seeing Big Bird talk about songs with all of his friends, but the real weakness of the DVD is when the film of the animals comes on(which is why I bought this in the first place, because my daughter loves seeing animals). The first segment is of a dog herding cattle, except the film is so old and grainy it reminded me of the old Lorne Greene animal documentaries he used to narrate. My daughter got bored and crawled away. So I skipped to the next song which wasn't as bad, so she sat and watched it happily. Then the third song came up, and again the film looked 30 years old, and off she went. What's the point in watching a DVD if you half to skip through half of it? I was very disappointed with this Sesame Street effort.
