5.0 out of 5 stars We loved it!
My three year old loves this DVD! He asks to see it at least once a day. My husband and I like the fact that Baby Bear experiences both the positive and negative aspects of becoming a big brother. One of the clips of "real" people depicts a family having a third child, and one of the older siblings has Down's. I love that Sesame Street doesn't shy away from using kids...

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't wait for it to end
We watched this video for the first (and probably last) time last night. What a snoozer! The video is far too long, and isn't designed for the short attention spans of most younger children. Also, there is a good deal of panicking and yelling when there is any mention of the mom going into labor (not only a poor example of how to react, but annoying as well). We were...

One of the clips of "real" people depicts a family having a third child, and one of the older siblings has Down's. I love that Sesame Street doesn't shy away from using kids with special needs and shows that they are just regular people like the rest of us. Also, scenes in the hospital show that it is not a scary place to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Video for Toddler Expecting a New Sibling, August 20, 2004
This review is from: Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby (DVD)
Our 2 1/2-year old boy loves this video. He showed little interest in it before his little sister was born but really enjoys watching it since she has joined our family because he can relate to little bear's experiences. It has helped him understand both the positive and negative emotions he was feeling about being a big brother, and has helped him understand why his baby sister cries and doesn't play with him yet. It is a great gift for any family expecting a new baby.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby, August 22, 2003
This review is from: Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby (DVD)
Very cute dvd on bringing home a new baby & all the emotions the older sibling will go through. Very cute & entertaining. I was worried that my son would not be interested in this, but he will sit through it and ask questions. Definitely a worthy purchase for the family going from one baby to two...

4.0 out of 5 stars 2 year old loves it!, March 31, 2004

My 2 year old saw this story originally on Sesame Street in 3 different segments. We taped it and she asked for it so much we decided to buy the video. It's extremely entertaining for both our toddler and the adults as well. We think it's very realistic to have reservations about change but the video shows that change can be a good thing. My toddler is also very active but she will sit still for this video only. We love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for kids expecting a new sibling, March 29, 2004

My daughter got so much out of this video when we were expecting our second baby. It dealt with the doubts a kid might have about the new baby in a sensitive way, and showed how happy the older sibling was when his new sister finally came. We loved it, and have watched it over and over. It gave my daughter an idea of what to expect. And that's been invaluable to me.HIGHLY recommend!

Also, there is a good deal of panicking and yelling when there is any mention of the mom going into labor (not only a poor example of how to react, but annoying as well). We were hoping that the video would have more segments of actual babies and families that were expecting, but unfortunately, there is only one short segment with non-puppet babies in it. Definitely not one of the better Sesame Street productions.

I bought this DVD for my 18 month old. He is a huge fan of Sesame Street (especially Elmo aka "Melmo") and likes to watch the other Sesame Street videos we have.
This DVD does not capture his attention at all. As we are expecting another baby later this year, I have played this movie on many separate occassions, but he has just not been interested. I read the reviews from other parents whose children enjoyed it before buying it, but certainly can't say the same for my son. Perhaps it is a better choice for older children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great video, August 12, 2005
This review is from: Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby (DVD)
Our son was 2 1/2 when we got this DVD for him. He loved it, and at 4 1/2 still does. What is so great about it is that Baby Bear puts words to how older siblings may be feeling about their new baby. I read an earlier review on Amazon where someone said that all Baby Bear does is complain, but kids don't always have the words to express their emotions, so this is a wonderful springboard for discussion and easy for kids to relate to. All works out well in the end. I would HIGHLY recommend this!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute for toddler about to get a sibling, December 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby (DVD)
I got this for my 2 year old when I was expecting twins. She loved it, and still asks for it everyday. It is a cute way to show a toddler what it will be like to have a new baby in the house. I thought it was pretty entertaining (I liked the panic when Mama Bear went into labor), and reasonably realistic on a 2 year old level.

4.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this!, January 24, 2012
This review is from: Sesame Street - Three Bears and a New Baby (DVD)
My 19 month old daughter is literally obsessed w/ this video--she wants to watch it all day, every day (we've limited her to once per day only). A friend gave it to me to prepare her for her new sister who's coming in the next few weeks. Personally, I think this video is about 20 mins too long (it's almost an hour and tends to drag on and on in a few parts), kinda ends on a down note and--worst of all--Baby Bear has a weird speech impediment that makes him say a lot of words incorrectly, like typical "child talk" ie. "bear" is "bayurh." I find that speech issue to set a bad example for my child. Other than that, it's a cute story and keeps my daughter fully occupied while I put makeup on or do my hair for work.
