Product Description

The Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON cable is designed for portable digital audio recorders and mic preamps with a single output jack. This jack is typically used for headphone monitoring or connecting to a DSLR audio input for recording. The LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON Y-Splitter cable allows you to do both monitoring and recording from a single output jack. It also features a -25dB L Pad attenuator on both audio channels to reduce the Prosumer Line Level output (-10dBV) to your camera's mic input sweet spot level. It's the perfect mating cable for Zoom H4N recorders when connecting to Canon D5 MkII but also works great for other similar mic preamps and DSLR cameras that require 25db of attenuation. The cable is designed with the proper impedances to assure maximum voltage transfer and low noise operation. The cable shield is isolated on the camera end to prevent shield noise from directly coupling into the camera connector ground. The cable allows users to go directly from the audio recorder into the camera and also monitor with headphones, creating a compact and elegant interface solution. All resistors values are 1% metal film to assure similar voltage attenuation between the stereo inputs. Cable ends are labeled for proper connection.

This easily connects from my Canon DSLR to my Zoom H4N and allows me to record audio straight to my DSLR video files.

Did not give it five stars because it seems to be a little over priced.

This product works like this. You want to record using your Zoom Recorder as a "shotgun" mic by mounting it on your camera. This cord allows you to monitor audio while recording in real time. Philip Bloom said himself that recording audio without monitoring is like recording video and not looking at the screen. this product does the job. used on a canon 60d

The most painful part of DSLR filming is the anxiety in wondering just what sound you've recorded while on set or on location. With this little cable, you can banish that worry -- provided you have an external sound recorder.

Combined with a Zoom H4n for example, you can now record high quality sound directly through your camera. Place the Zoom or other audio recorder on the hot shoe with a hot shoe adapter (uses the 4/20 screw mount on the back of your Zoom to connect it to the hot shoe.) plug this into the zoom and then the camera and then jack in some headphones. Pre-roll your sound to get the levels right and then go about recording as you normally would!

I've found that I'm more certain and confident in the sound I get which makes for better overall videos as well.

If you want even better sound security, use a second recorder with an XLR microphone and then just sync your audio in post!

Great little product!

Got this to record reference audio to my 7D. Since the 7D still has auto gain control (AGC) it still makes this unusable for real audio needs. But, if you're a one man crew like I am this can be great if you're doing interviews with DSLR's or other situations where you want both a backup audio source and a good source to sync with. Makes like easier, that's for sure.

However, -25dB isn't really enough. That may just be the 7D's fault, but overall I still have to change levels in FCP to even out the sound or else the recording in the 7D is way too loud. Now, I could just lower the out from the H4n but that affects my headphones. But overall, it works.

Everything Sescom makes is of oustanding quality! Bought this for my Canon 6D and H4N. Flawless. Your only option if you want to monitor your audio during recording. If you own the 5DMKIII you won't need this as it has a built in Headphone jack. This little monster is excellent for the Canon t2i, t3i, t4i, t5i, 60D, 60Da, 70D, 7D and 6D. Also work excellent with Nikon DSLRs!

Although I only use the camera sound for reference, it's important to get a very clear sound into your camera without distortion, and the best way to do so is by monitoring your audio. My Canon T4i doesn't have a way to record and monitor at the same time with an external mic source, but this cable makes it all possible.

Works as detailed. Simple to use and good quality. Perfect for sending mic level audio (from line level source) to DSLR mic input. Only drawback is that headphone level output is tied to level sent to DSLR. Turn down the headphone level and the DSLR input is also lower. Otherwise great product.

This easily connects from my Canon DSLR to my Zoom H4N and allows me to record audio straight to my DSLR video files. I no longer have to sync audio while editing and I am also able to still record audio to the H4N allowing me to get two copies of the audio just in case.

I used this to attach a Sansa Clip to the microphone input on a Sony HDRP J260V Handycam. The sound at the gathering was broadcast over FM for the hearing impaired. The headphone ear buds' cord doubles as an antenna to get FM reception on the Clip so that has to also stay attached.

The attenuation worked fairly well but was a little loud. I just turned the volume down a bit on the Clip. I did have a little interference which could have come from anywhere. After some adjustment this was not too noticeable in the final results. Since I only experimented with this on one occasion over an hour or two I can't say if was due to this cable, the broadcast, how it was hooked up, or something else.
