So, my girlfriend's mom bought this for me for Christmas, and I gotta say I like it. If you don't wanna read all this, just take this review: worth the money.

Of course, this is not pro tools. If you are serious about recording your stuff, editing sounds, looping, whatever; there are going to be better out there. However; pro tools (the universal program for this)is nearly $400. If you're beginning recording and writing or whatever, it's very approachable and generally easy to deal with. Some more programs out there are free but can be really... what's the word... boring. They can also seem intimidating if you're new to it. However this program is really user friendly, and is really pretty powerful: no crashes, and has some really cool effects for guitar and voice. The USB interface is sleak, fitting really well in your recording space, and generally takes the bull out of recording; which you will appreciate later trust me. Overall; it's great for a beginner! You'll have a lot of fun, and it works really well with vista.

The downsides are that it lacks a good midi synth creator, and you have to listen through headphones when recording, and of course you have to spend money on it. I haven't found anything free that matches it's capabilities. For synth, I would suggest going through a keyboard, or of course plugging with the mod-plug tracker (free) or some other stuff. Anyway yeah, worth the money, but it could be better. I feel comfortable in giving it 4 out of 5 stars.
