This is yet another sub-standard nu-metal release which offers nothing in the way of originality. Don't get me wrong, I love nu-metal but there's just too many bands on the scene and very few of them are doing anything original, and Shuvel are just one of those bands. They are probably a brilliant live act as they have two vocalists and the album is, if nothing else, quite energetic and live sounding. The thing is that I can't imagine any reason why anyone would buy this album (I got it by mistake),off hand I can think of about thirty bands who do the rap/ nu-metal thing better, and even if you have albums by them all, then this album does nothing to stand out from the crowd

I saw these guys at Ozzfest and was pretty optimistic about them. The CD just doesn't do much for me. There is not anything special about this CD that you can't find on a ton of other CD's. Either Shuvel needs to do a better job of capturing their live show and put it on the next album, or else they aren't going to make it very far. The potential is there, but this CD doesn't show it. If you like basic rap metal that is more on the rap side, pick up this CD. Otherwise, keep on looking.

This album doesn't do Shuvel justice. I saw them live at Ozzfest and was ecstatic about their performance. Everyone I knew was. We all went out and bought the CD when it came out and spent the next week bitching about how bad the CD was. Live=Awesome. CD=Terrible. I can only hope that the show we saw exhibited some kind of "maturing" process. From the difference in the CD to the live show, I say it happened. I really expect their second CD to be much, much better. By the way, if you're interested in this kind of sound, check out Mr. Plow. They've got it down. Hard to find, but definitely worth it.

I first bought this album based on what a friend told me about the band. He said it would blow my socks off and he was right, only in a weird way. I was expecting something like Skrape or Lifer even, but I was not ready for this band. These guys have a sound similar to something you would find off the Judgement Night sound track or even something Limp Bizkit might have put out early in their career. I, for one, am very happy to see that rap/metal is on the rise as Nu-Metal would not have been started without the influnce of Rap/Metal artists. Each track on this album is packed with heavy guitar rifts and outrageous voicals. Let's get down to it...
THE GOOD: 1) RAP/METAL. Yup, this is the music form that started it all and I am glad that their now is a band who can take up the torch that Limp Bizkit seems to have dropped after their first album. 2) LYRICS. Thoughtful, insightful, and powerful. That is just the beginning of the descriptive words that can be applied to these guys. The first track is even a statement about the horrible Columbine High school shootings. Each song will make you long for a time when that great band Rage Against The Machine had Zack as a lead singer. 3) GUITAR. Nice and heavy and full of talent.Ryan (last name unknown at this time) has the experience needed to pull off this kind of music and really shows his skills on all the tracks.
THE BAD: 1) DRUMS. Kyle Hollinger, who has never had a formal drum lesson in his life, has some growing up to do here. While his drumming is good for a debut album, if you listen close enough he seems at times tenative about his playing. 2)VOCALS. While the two singer system has worked in many of the "Pop" metal bands, can anyone say Linkin Park, the duo of Isaac and Jeff has some growing to do as well.

Shuvel is very similar to Limp Bizkit. The constant cussing and the screaming combine with rapping and the heavy guitar riffs and the turntable sound is pretty much Limp Bizkit. Limp Bizkit is way better , but Shuvel is pretty good. They only Released one album though. I thought why not! I am enjoying this cd, which is the main reason I listen to music. The songs are fun to listen to. As far as making any sense, they don't really. Shuvel is one of those bands that you just jam to when you are in a great mood. But I wouldn't recommend it if you only listen to music that has a serious meaning behind it. That being said, Shuvel is a decent band to listen to. The lead singer isn't the best rapper or singer, but the beats make up for it.

I saw these guys open up for soulfly a while back and they tore up the place. They have an impressive live show and lots of energy...they just couldn't put it on tape. The music hits all the right notes but it seems like its missing something. The album sounds like it was recorded in some kids basement and is mixed terribly. This is a shame because these guys have real potential. Go see them live if you are able to. The album, however, is only good for a couple of spins.

i missed Ozzfest, but thank GOD i din't miss Shuvel on Soundbreak.com!!! Personally, i luv bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn and i've been wanting something new to come along. They 'rocked the house' (O.K. they blew it up!)on Soundbreak with the two front guys blazing hard lyrics and the constant hard driving music. i had to get the CD the next day - this is definitely a new fav.
