5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME CD, April 6, 2006
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
I RECENTLY BOUGHT THIS CD AND I CANT STOP LISTING TO IT. I LOVE EVERY SONG EXPECT "ALRIGHT" THAT IS THE ONLY SONG THAT I DONT LIKE BUT THE REST IS AWESOME. I LOVE IT. I KNEW MYRON BUTLER AS A PRODUCER BUT NEVER AS A SINGER. HE NEEDS TO KEEP ON SINGING AND PUT OUT GREAT PROJECT. THIS PROJECT IS AWESOME. I LOVE IT. "EVERYTHING" AND "LATTER RANI" IS THE BEST. THE LYRICS, THE BACKGROUND SINGERS, THE BAND IT IS JUST HOT. "SET ME FREE" IS MY JAM AND MY NEW FAVORITE SONG. I LOVE THIS CD. IF YOU DONT HAVE IT THEN YOU NEED TO GET IT. IT IS WORTH YOUR MONEY.

5.0 out of 5 stars Myron Has Now Become One Of My Faves..And That's Hard To Do With Me..., January 9, 2006
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
Man, where has this guy been. I hadn't heard about him until recently when his CD was being reviewed on gospelflava.com. They said he did some work with Kirk Franklin back in the day, so I made it my mandate to check him out. About 2 weeks later, I got his CD as a Christmas gift! And I haven't been able to put this CD down since!!

From the start this CD is a smash. The first 3 songs, "That Place", "I Can", and "Set Me Free", instantly became my favourite songs on the CD. After those songs, the songs are great but not like those 1st three. The beginning of "Set Me Free" also had a kind of Tye Tribbett feel to it, so I really liked that one.

There are so many leaders with chorales/choirs coming out these days it's so hard to keep up: Brent Jones & TP Mobb, Natalie Wilson & SOP, Israel & New Breed, Tye Tribbett & GA are pretty much the best of the bunch. But now you can add a new addition to that group. Myron Butler & Levi are definitely gospel excellence and don't disappoint with this CD. It was well worth the wait.

Kingdom Blessings...

'Dre

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent CD From "God's Property" Alumni, July 30, 2006

Chicago Music Fan "jbkprod" (Chicago, IL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
When I heard "Set Me Free" on the radio here in Chicago, I knew those voices and production style sounded familiar. I loved the song, then I bought the full CD- and loved all of it! Then when I heard Myron Butler did some things with Kirk Franklin, I went to my "God's Property From Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation" CD, looked through the credits, and noticed that basically all the singers, musicians, and song writers, from the Myron Butler & Levi project played major roles on the God's Property CD. You may remember Myron Butler singing the lead on "Faith" (the song where he said he had "mustard seed" faith). The only thing that surprised me about all this was that MB and the the rest of the talented crew didn't come out with anything as a unit before this (at least as far as I know).

Everything about the two projects is so similar- although they are definitely two distinct projects- and that is an excellent thing! Upbeat songs to go along with the more mellow songs, excellent musicianship by the band, and most importantly, the lyrics of all the songs emphasize a focus on God and our need to uplift Him, and stay true to the course He has laid for us. My personal favorites are "Set Me Free", "I Can", "That's Who You Are", and "Latter Rain", but I can easily listen to the entire CD without skipping a track.

If you liked the "God's Property" sound, you will definitely enjoy this CD. Get it and receive your blessing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Myron Butler Gives God What He Deserves - Excellence!, January 2, 2006
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
This project is more than just another gospel cd. Every song exudes excellence - lyrics, vocals, musicianship, vocal arrangements, and production. Each song reflects integrity and substance. There is not one song on here that I can skip over. Listening to Myron Butler & Levi is a breath of fresh air. This cd serves up a full course feast for your soul. And you can actually understand every word in the songs. This cd is music ministry at its best. If I just had to pick a few favorites they would be "That Place", Set Me Free", "That's Who You Are", "Heal The Land"... Never mind, I like them all. It's just that good. If you appreciate excellence in music ministry please BUY - dont burn - this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Amazing!!!!!!, November 28, 2005

I agree with the other reviewer who said that this is one of the best CD's of 2005! I have not been able to stop listening to it!! The vocals, music, lyrics, and song arrangements are off da chain!! Myron Butler will go down in history as one of the great gospel songwriters! My favorite track on the CD is #5 "That's Who You Are". This song is awesome, from the worshipful lyrics to the subtle chord changes that are pure beauty. "That Place" kinda conjured up thoughts of Richard Smallwood. There is not a single track on this album that I did not enjoy. Musically, this project is top notch (I just LOVE that intro on track #4 "Latter Rain"). The vocals are sweet. This is Myron's triumphant entry into the forefront of gospel, and I am convinced he is here to stay!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly LIBRERATING--it set me free, November 11, 2005
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
This is by far one of the best gospel CD's I've heard this year (along with Mary Mary). "Set Me Free" is HOT! You can actually think about God's goodness as you listen to it (and dance if you want as well.) I would vocally put them above Ty Tribett and GA, even though it's not exactly fair to compare them. All vocals are strong and clear, harmony is great, lyrics are captivating and truthful. The production is EXCELLENT. You can also tell that many of the songs ("Heal the Land", "I will Survive") are based on Scripture. It sounds as though several of the singers in Levi also came from God's Property. My brother Myron has definitely got FAITH! Keep up the great work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Myron Butler Hits One Out of the Park!, December 28, 2005
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
Myron Butler & Levi's debut release "Set Me Free" is an addictive, diverse worship set that one can listen to over and over and not get tired of it. Mainly because there is not one weak cut on the entire set! The songs are both spiritually uplifting and vocally appealling as the group blends perfectly and skillfully on each song. With songs that touch every aspect of the spiritual being, we should look for nothing but future greatness from Myron Butler and Levi as they continue to touch hearts, minds and ears with their unique blend of gospel music. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good Stuff!!!, December 28, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Set Me Free (Audio CD)
I was watching a program on TBN and Myron Butlers group was one of the last ones to sing, I was like whoa!!!! The CD is pleasing whether vocals or the music is what you love. When you first hear the first few songs it puts you in the mind of Tye Tribbett. My favorite tracks are 3 and 4, but every last song is nice. My only complaint is it's not long enough....but it's a good investment...buy it, buy it, buty it!!!!!!!
