5.0 out of 5 stars This is HARDCORE!
This ain't no Sepultura wannabe, I dont' care what some 12 year old who don't know nothin' about nothin' has to say! Anyone who thinks that doesn't know jack-... about HARDCORE! And there ain't no one more Hardcore than MADBALL! This album is as tight as they come! Everything is damn near perfect, from Stigma and Henderson on guitars to Freddy's vocals...its all on...

2.0 out of 5 stars OK
Other people love this album. I picked it up cause of the great reviews. Its ok, the lyrics are a bit weak, the only real good riff in the album last about 6 seconds and is written by agnostic front. It has grown on me slightly over the last year, but in the end it's still weak.

And there ain't no one more Hardcore than MADBALL! This album is as tight as they come! Everything is damn near perfect, from Stigma and Henderson on guitars to Freddy's vocals...its all on target! If you think you like Hardcore, pick this disc up, or anything else by Madball for that matter! If you don't like it, you're an idiot, to say the least...

4.0 out of 5 stars Madball will beat you senseless!, June 27, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Set It Off (Audio CD)
If they could, the members of Madball would beat the crap out of you and love it. Since they don't live in your neighborhood, they'll have to settle for the next best thing- blowing you away musically. Post Agnostic Front New York hardcore pumps through their veins and incites such antisocial grooves like "Spit on Your Grave". Unlike most hardcore/metal bands, Madball acts tough and IS TOUGH! But don't be intimidated. If you love them, which you surely will, you will get much respect in return!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great album, but..., October 3, 2005
This review is from: Set It Off (Audio CD)
This album is all hard-hitting in your face NYHC, it doesn't get much harder. The lyrics cut you in half and the drum work is especially great, it gives the album such a hard-hitting sound. The instruments are the aural equivalent of a brass-knuckled right to the jaw. I must say however, that the recording style of the vocals leaves Freddy's vocals SLIGHTLY lacking in volume and intensity... his singing style is good and fits well with the music, but the way that it was recorded makes it sound thin, unless you REALLY crank the volume. This is more than likely rectified in later Madball releases.

Overall, however, this album earns 4 1/2 stars and is still worth the money, and Madball still kills.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Old Hardcore, March 1, 2011

You can definitely tell that this CD was made before the band made it really big. The sounds quality is a little bad, but WHO CARES, it's Madball! A great CD for people who like some of the recent work done by Madball.

4.0 out of 5 stars RE: GREAT NYHC RELEASE, December 6, 2007
This review is from: Set It Off (Audio CD)

Great album! Ferocious enough to kick you hard in the nuts once you press play on your cd player. This in my opinion only, is the last great old-school Madball re-lease. If Metal-core is your bag, check the newer stuff. If insane psychopathic angry old-school hardcore is your thing, check this, Ball of Destruction, and Droppin' Many Suckers out. You won't be dissapointed!! The only negative is the hip hop sounding Down By Law...sorry can't do the hip hop and hardcore mix.
