Editorial Reviews

2011 album from the Goth rockers. Set The World On Fire is a collection of songs designed to be even bigger and better than their 2010 debut, to still be the band fans know and love from that first album but with more perspective and a musical evolution honed by months on the road and a matured vision for their craft. Black Veil Brides made the album in California with Josh Abraham, whose long resume includes Linkin Park, Velvet Revolver, 30 Seconds to Mars, Korn, Mastodon and so many others.

I was just recently introduced to the music of BVB via youtube. It was their video for "Fallen Angels", and I loved it!!! I thought this was a band I need to find out more about!! For such young guys, their music is phenomenal!! I couldn't wait for their new CD "Set the World on Fire" to come out! I raced to the store after work on 6/14 and got one of the few copies left at the store. At 38 years old, I was like a teenager waiting for the next Motley Crue album to come out! Fantastic guitar riffs and a great blend of fast songs and ballads! Bottom line.....................MUST HAVE! It will never leave your CD player!

Finally, a band who takes all the coolest elements of 80's theatrical rock/glam, combines it with 90's metal and mixes in some 00's metalcore and gets it right. Any of those 3 styles would sound dated or just overdone(metalcore) today by themselves. BVB takes the best aspects of each and combines it with their own considerable talent to come up with a blend that is just awesome. Before trying to pigeonhole this band into a certain genre, listen to some of the YouTube videos with Andy talking about what he wanted the band to be. These guys loved the theatrics of Kiss and Motley Crue and wanted to bring that kind of show back to the fans. I found this band through the Fallen Angels and The Legacy videos and just loved it. Set The World on Fire is a great CD. I also went back and got their 1st CD which I figured would be a weaker "work in progess" kind of thing but I was way wrong ! The 1st CD is also great. Specific shout outs to the guitarwork of Jake and Jinx and the killer drumming by Christian. This band has the potential for superstardom. Let's just hope they can keep everything together and mature into the longterm SuperGroup I know they can be.

This band has got hate for nothing. This album is totally different from their debut album We Stitch These Wounds. It has the awesome drumms from CC , Catchy Riffs from Jake and Jixx and solos,Better vocals from andy and they are very unique also and great bass by ashley purdy. The songwriting has improved so much and i see bright things in the future for them

This album is a must have for any fan of hard rock or metal. I'd say they are a mixture between Motley Crue and Avenged Sevenfold. But it's really hard to put a label on these guys. They are very talented musicians and have put together a solid album. Better yet, the production is killer! I took a chance on these guys, because I find that most new hard rock and metal all sounds very similar, but I am so glad I gave this disc a spin! I doubt this album leave my rotation for a long while. 4.5 stars

Set the World on Fire builds on their previous album, with way more production, soaring guitar solos and a nod to the 80's power ballad, all without losing the hard-edged sincerity of their lyrics and a really addictive hook in all of their songs. Andy Sixx has a voice like velvet chocolate that draws you in and then draws blood! Like many bands with roots in the hard rock/screamo genre, BVB are evolving into into a true rock powerhouse, without sacrificing any of their fan appeal. Great guitar hooks from Ashley Purdy. Fantastic guitar and bass hooks and rock-solid drumming that is truly addictive. Rebel Love Song is a classic! A must for any fan of bands like Skid Row, GnR, Motley Crue, Soundgarden, The Damned and AFI.

First off, you won't find ANY band today (short of maybe Avenged Sevenfold) that has this sound. Yes, there is more singing in this album, which I actually liked. BVB just got a new lead guitarist that does backing vocals, and he's a beast. They also got a new drummer, which explains the more complicated drumming. This album is fantastic and very unique sounding. I was blown away. Also, the album is produced better than there first, meaning the sound is more dynamic with clearly defined bass. The last album was not very good (sound) quality. Buy it.

This album rocks from start to finish. Nothing I want to skip here while listening to this one. Superb vocals and insane killer metal high speed guitar licks. Good song structure and thought provoking lyrics. I recommend this.
