5.0 out of 5 stars Classicaly influenced NYHC
great CD. lots of one word gang vocals and break downs. theres a song written by luke of warzone, too. When they were together they were afiliated with H20 as well as the rest of the NY hardcore scene. the other album is less hardcore, and more commercial sounding, this is the one to get.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid debut
I hadn't heard this record since about '96 other than the 2 Revelation Records singles that I still occasionally spin, but the upcoming Gorilla Biscuits reunion made me pull this one out again. I'm suprised at how fresh this sounds still, and is almost like what GB would have sounded like had they made a second LP. This record was completely written by Walter Schriefels...

Carrying on in the tradition of his previous band, the Gorilla Biscuits, CIV (the band and the individual) bring you an album of fun youth crew esque hardcore but with a slightly more pop punk edge/sheen added on to it. Fans of modern pop punk bands should get ahold of albums like this to not only for historical purposes but to see how bands like CIV do it better.

5.0 out of 5 stars great pop-hardcore, December 25, 1998
By A Customer

This is a great pop hardcore album. I say "pop" because it has lots of tight riffs and sing-along choruses. This isn't new jack metal-core. It shifts smoothly between mid-tempo jams and full-on '88-style HC

This record was completely written by Walter Schriefels (GB, Youth of Today, Quicksand etc) and the band was his concept, although he's not credited and was not an "official" member. So, this is basically a Walter record, and a good one at that. It seems like yesterday that I was singing along to these guys at Warped tour '95! 3.5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Staggering and relentless, July 12, 1998

civ manages to bring with him all the pent up hostility and anger that made the Gorilla Biscuits legendary, this album is pure aggression and just when you think it's going to let up it steps it up another notch and knocks you down, an absolute must for any hardcore fan
