This 2 CD set is really great and takes all the tracks from "THE FIREHOUSE FIVE PLUS TWO STORY" plus a number of tracks from their "GOES SOUTH" album as well as a number of tracks from their "PLAYS FOR LOVERS album and has them all here to enjoy and its done really great!

One of the best things about this set is that it gives you 2 songs that never before have been available on album or CD ,they were just released on 45 RPM records only and these are:

"JINGLE BELLS" and "THERES A TAVERN IN THE TOWN".

These are truly great numbers and are toe tappin!

Also, this collection gives you 2 versions of 2 songs, and these are

"Blues My Naughty Sweetie Gives To Me", one version is the 45 RPM version and the other is the LP version.
The 2nd song is "Down Where The Sun Goes Down" and again is the same deal,one is a 45 RPM version and the other the LP version.

So indeed this collection is a MUST HAVE!!

These guys are terrific. Full of energy and talent, they put everything into every piece. Don't think you will listen to it as background music though, it commands your attention -- like a fire. As you learn from the liner notes, these guys all had other jobs, they did this music for the love it and that love shows. They are having a good time playing, and you will have a good time listening. If you get this set (Whole Story Vol. 1), then you should also get the second one (Whole Story Vol. 2). Each one is a two-disc set with about 25 cuts per disc. So if you buy both sets, you get 100 pieces of tremendous foot stomping music. An incredible deal for some incredible music.

If you like early 20th century songs, done in a Dxieland style, you will love these guys! Most were not professional musicians, and many worked at the Disney studio and did this for amusement, but they were outstanding. Don't be surprised by the added fire sirens, it really adds to the fun. Highly recommended!

I was disappointed in the fact it was recorded in MONO. It would be much more enjoyable in Stereo, but it is what it is. I still recommend it for fans of this style.
