Editorial Reviews

Review

Advent is a wonderful, yet strange season, not one much appreciated by the culture at large. John
Indermark's Setting the Christmas Stage will be a great help to those who wish to enter more deeply into
the particular beauty and power of the Advent season. --Anthony B. Robinson, Senior Minister, Plymouth Congregational Church, Seattle, Washington

About the Author

John Indermark lives in southwest Washington state with his wife, Judy, an E-911 dispatcher and trainer.
Their son, Jeff, works in the juvenile rehabilitation field for the state of Washington. John grew up in St.
Louis, graduating from Northwest High School, St. Louis University, and Eden Theological Seminary.
Ordained in the United Church of Christ, Indermark served as a parish pastor for 16 years before
developing a ministry of writing that is now his full-time vocation.
Besides devotional and spiritual formation books published by Upper Room Books, Indermark's
publications include Christian education curricula for Seasons of the Spirit and The Present Word. He
wrote the New Testment materials for youth and leaderings in Crossings: God's Journey with Us, a
confirmation resource published in 2006 by Logos Productions, Inc.

This review is from: Setting the Christmas Stage: Readings for the Advent Season (Perfect Paperback)
Advent brings a rush of activities that often makes the pre-Christmas season lose its spiritual meaning. This book helps readers refocus and thoughtfully consider the characters and places of the season. By examining the Christmas story as a pageant, the author provides a dynamic view of how Advent gradually moves the drama forward to the climax of Christmas. Readers will see how the familiar stories flow together into an encounter with God in Christ.
